The last 100 years of human history has of lshown an increase in eroticism in all facets, I call this sexification. If I extrapolate this trend out to the future of Mass Effec I can conclude that everything will be sex all the time.

wait, no it hasn't. sure things are more sexualized then say, the 40's, but have you seen the crap they got away with in the early 20th century?

I, for one, am not going to pretend I am not going to buy it and love it anyway.

I'll buy it. I'm still hopeful. But I'm prepared to be disappointed.
e: like the biggest obstacle between me and buying the game is actually none of the complaints voiced here, but fucking Origin

And EDI was already romancing Joker in ME2.

See SW:ToR (fine, not great, but not measurably worse than any other launch MMO, and better in the story department) and DA2 (many many problems, but none of them have to do with what people were bitching about pre-release which was mostly it getting more 'actiony' and dumbed down for console, while the problems lied more in reused areas, things not changing enough in the city, and poorly balanced combat encounters, which all had to do with a short dev cycle and nothing to do with dumbing it down for consoles). First Dragon Age even saw this for a bit Pre-release, and I'm pretty sure ME2 did as well, but I'm foggy on that. I know it got a lot of shit over Grunt not being Wrex, but then Grunt was fucking fantastic. On the other hand, didn't you enjoy Duke Nukem Forever?

This is silly, the mass effect novels show that if anything the fanfiction is far more capable of keeping the setting intact and not shitting all over the timeline, technology or characters. So to that effect I'd say it's pretty clear the fanfiction is better than the actual novels.

I enjoy any game that I can play and actually have fun playing. I enjoy a lot of games that gamers and critics alike find terrible. It isn't the same as enjoying, say, Skyrim or Bastion. That is a more immersive and fufilling sense of enjoyment.
I wouldn't begrude anyone their indulgence of the less-than-fantastic things in art and media. You can enjoy crappy B-Movies and cinema classics, and neither should invalidate your opinion or the other.
