I smoke the occasional Cigar. The last one I had was in May when I was visiting Blood in Vancouver, the last one before that was in May of 2008 when I was at Anime North.

Cigar's are acceptable as you'll usually find some proper place to smoke them so as not to let someone spoil 'em.

I grew up with a family that consisted of almost entirely smokers. I get cravings for cigarettes due to years of sustained contact to second hand smoke.

I mean, yeah, it is just my personal case... But that does count for something.

My Grandfather died due to lung cancer from smoking and I never got to know him. I also get to my Aunt and my grandmother suffering from the effects of smoking so that has kept me away from ever trying it. Plus the smell makes me cough out a lung by just being near it.

One of my aunts died of esophageal cancer a couple of years ago, which is rare among people who've never smoked. The weird part is that she quit well before I was born, so I don't know if something was wrong all that time or what. It was a case where one moment, she was fine, and three months later, she was dead.

It was unsettling standing around at the visitation and seeing my brother and my aunt's two children go out for a smoke. It's not like they don't know they "should" quit, so I don't know that there's anything else we can do but just be there when they decide they're ready.

That's why I say it's probably something you have to start young, it's a lot easier to justify going down that road when you haven't seen where it can lead.

All drugs are most useful in the purpose of balancing people, if you're too highstrung and can't escape from that a little booze might help until you learn to balance, weed the same thing if you are in a lot of pain or you're apathetic or have a convicting personality.
