Because the batshit Democrats tried to kick him out of CT 4 years ago and the batshit candidate (Ned Lamont) lost. You just try to run for the Democratic ticket and utter the words "pro-life." See how that works out for you. The Democrats are now largely a socialist party with Jacksonian Democrats still at the edge of the party for voting purposes only. Blue Dogs do not get a seat at Democrat leadership sessions. Sure, they get bought off for certain votes like Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu, but its not like concern for the constituency took primacy in any of that. In any case, ACORN did run fraudulent voter drives, even if the names attached to the fraudulent registrations never voted. Since ACORN was receiving public subsidy at the time, such a thing never should have happened. ACORN's most notorious transgression of late is offering tax advice to underage prostitution rings. Quite a boon to "poor people," that. ACORN has never helped a poor person in the entire history of their organization, well, helped them in a way that didn't expressly involve the financial or moral degradation of someone else in the process. They're basically Socialist Democrat Rent-A-Mob, paid with taxpayer dollars to protest and advocate while Republicans and normal Democrats are busy engaging in actual productive activity. Why does a group of "Community Organizers" need government subsidy anyway? Any third party groups like this are a magnet for the kind of corruption, racketeering, and general waste, fraud, and abuse that ACORN has engaged in. At least Planned Parenthood with all its extra-legal activities can claim to have a definable set of services for its subsidies. |

Additionally, I agree with your anti-socialism views. But don't believe you go far enough. For example, why do the groups of "Law Enforcers" "Extreme Temperature Dis-solvers" and "Taxi Drivers for the sick" get Government funding and support? Why can't people just enforce the law themselves, fight fires for themselves, and mend their own broken bones?

Conspiracy theory: All the strongly conservative users with >150 posts that frequently appear in discussion threads, post a few time, then disappear, never to be heard from again are actually the same guy. Believe it.
Anyway... Quote:
No, the democrats aren't socialist. Hell, look at some European countries, see what more extreme left-wing parties are running there, they're socialist. Democrats are smack dab in the middle of the spectrum at best. And the more I see of them, the more I'm inclined to call them center-right. And honestly, why shouldn't being "pro life" prevent you from running for democratic ticket? |

It's funny because Republicans are always claiming to be against big government.

Just a new little pet-peeve of mine. When did we start air-quoting community organizers like they were a bad thing? These people are most often youth group leaders, runners of volunteer homeless shelters and soup kitchens, Habitat for Humanity aids, anti-gang and drug action committees....really the list goes on. Was it because political fuck-ups like Sarah Palin used to stress how her empty little head was somehow better than a community organizer with a law degree just because she managed to get elected as governor to what really amounts to America's version of Siberia? (I'm sorry, I didn't mean that Alaska. Really you're a pretty state and all; it's just that you attract the American crazies that don't even have the sense to live in warm sunny California.)
But anyway that aside, really? Air-quotes? It's just insulting. |

Without the community organizers donating boots what will these people have to pick themselves up with?

To pro-life, the life of the baby takes precident over the choice of the mother. To pro-choice, the right of the mother to make choices abou her own body takes precident over the potential life of the fetus. Each is an entirely reasonable name. If pro-life is inappropriate because it implies anti-life, then pro-choice is inappropriate because it implies anti-choice. Both implications are technically true. But neither take into account the complexities of the issue. So why can't we just assume the opposite of pro-life is pro-choice, let each side have the name they want, and argue on the merits of the stances, not on any implications, imagined or otherwise, in the designations. But that's off topic. Sorry. Just get annoyed by that.
