FORTUNE !
Roji’s magic is based on luck and random effects. The spell cards he is dealt are generally useful though occasionally they can hinder him. Playing the Noose as the Hold card for instance, restricts his movement. The cards are largely augmentary, boosting abilities or hindering others, or creating new objects. Their attacks are rarely directly damaging. They have limited versatility, the Scythe card either fires blades through the air or conjures a scythe. The Casket creates random objects, or seals them away. Lock & Key can create or destroy barriers and defenses. The Kiss card seems useless, though his grandmother insists ‘he’s just not using it right’.

The 33 Talismans are;
Charm – Turtle – Dragon – Tiger – Pheonix – Toad - Wedding – Whisper – Traitor – Noose – Cradle – Snow Flake – Waterfall – Moon – Star – Crypt – Friends – Casket – Lock & Key - Lantern – Fortune – Crow - Scythe – Dream – Dawn – End – Quake – Temptation – Wheel – Smoke – Kiss – Song - Feather

The LUCKY SIXTY-SIX has three slots and three modes

HOLD
Hold issues a general effect based on the random shuffle card, that card cannot be played and can’t before ending the battle.

STRIKE BACK
A card is locked as ‘STRIKE BACK’, this can be played from Roji’s current hand or shuffled randomly from the LUCKY SIXTY-SIX. The card is then held in reserve until an attack is directed at Roji. The card then reenters the deck.

PLAY
Any card Roji holds may be played, activating its effect and returning it to the deck.

***SUPER MODE OVERDRIVE***
This mode is only unlocked by extreme stress, high levels of damage and emotion or the Power of Love. SUPERMODE OVERDRIVE ‘burns’ all the cards currently in play to launch CODEWORD ARMAGEDDON whose exact effects are determined by the burnt cards. ...okay... so... four modes...

Examples:
Roji draws the Lantern. Using LUCKY SIXTY-SIX he plays the card as Illuminate. A light fixes itself to one of his opponents, making future attacks more accurate. The card returns to the deck

Roji draws Smoke and sets it as the STRIKE BACK card. His enemy fires an attack at him, and unable to dodge Smoke activates and Roji vanishes, the blow passing through him before he reforms. The card returns to the deck

Roji commences combat and the LUCKY SIXTY-SIX selects the Turtle for the Hold card.Roji has a stronger shield than normal allowing him to weather powerful attacks. Turtle does not retun to the deck.

Items/Familiar:

BLUE GYPSY BREAKER JACKET
Roji is a dramatic gambler and he looks good doing it. The Blue Gypsy Breaker Jacket is summoned when the Hold card is issued. The Blue Gypsy is a sleek dark blue costume, with a loose jacket, bright sashes of colour and a paper crown. A pair of stylish sunglasses accompany its appearance, the lens embossed with the same magical array as the LUCKY SIXTY-SIX. Its design is influenced by the Held card. In the example of the Noose, the costume is bound by looped ropes, for the Turtle card it would have heavy shoulderpads and armoured sections. The design sometimes offers extra weapons or defenses.

RIRAKU TALISMAN CARDS
The Talisman Deck belonged to Roji’s grandmother, the Scarlet Witch Marigold! A fortune teller who used her own special deck to tell fortunes. By all accounts the Scarlet Witch Marigold! was also a scarlet woman and a floozy and so the deck has a number of untoward interpretations. The deck is used by the Intelligent Device to unlock spells.
LUCKY SIXTY-SIX:

The Automatic Spell Shuffler that Roji keeps clipped to his belt.
It’s a sleek little device of semi-transparent black plastic, embossed with a bright red magical array. It has an infuriating tendency to communicate via coded messages and skew the ‘random’ of the card issue when he disobeys. It shouts SHUFFLE at the top of its voice and occasionally issues cards out of battle. The personality of the LUCKY SIXTY-SIX is tainted by the RIRAKU deck and it is typically mischevious and attempts to force Roji into romance by dealing the charm card at inappropriate moments.

Background:
Roji lives with both of his parents, his paternal grandmother and his three younger sisters, Yuki, Yari and Kari. His elder brother joined the Navy and is always abroad. Despite not being a senior Roji is president of the Dramatics Club and is quite popular amongst his peers. Mostly because of his good looks and laid back manner. He is prone to over dramatization and so far takes advantage of his popularity with the other students and particularly the infatuated juniors to get out of the work he doesn’t want to do himself. He’s an assistant member on the cultural committee and his three friends, Lily, Cress and Fern are known as ‘The Crazy Dice Gang’ and make up the treasurer, vice president and lead actor of the Dramatics Club. He’s closest to his grandmother, Marigold (nee The Scarlet Witch Marigold!, whom he inherited the Rirarku Talisman cards from, and who is a pretty cool old lady. Being a ‘witch’ before the return of magic she has a wealth of experience and will be the only one in his family to know about the rising magic and will help keep it from the others. His grandma will treat the Lucky Sixty-Six like her other grandchild, probably in no small part because it inherits most of its personality from her talisman deck.

Alrighty, I'll edit myself when I get home from school today. I guess I'm supposed to just do summonings and spells that empower summons instead of dealing with vessels and lifeforce and blood circles. Is that the right track?

Yeah AB, that sounds good.

RMB, looks alright. I think that Anger Sphere might be a little problematic to do in practice though. More info about the Intelligent Device would be good too - it's going to basically be your magic tutor, so putting some thought into it is a good idea.

A little note about Devices: when set up, they tend to be fairly obviously a Device and omewhat mechanical in appearance - they're not just a normal item that's been enchanted. They're usually the mage's staff or primary weapon.

Relm, seems mostly fine. I'd like more info about white Star though - Attune and Expel are extremely vague currently. Also, the background's not very detailed. A few names and notes about specific people would be good. Also, she doesn't have a family?

Phoenix, everything's good. Approved. Mmmmm, NPCs.

Flare, I'll wait for you to add those extra details before commenting.

Nin, Nin, Nin... Where to begin? As mages haven't really been seen for about a thousand years, they are unlikely to burn down your house and most likely half of Japan is descended from them, given people tend to sleep around over the course of a few centuries.

Teal, looks good so far, I'll wait on the rest of those details before saying anything more.

Naqel, I'm wondering if that might be too dark for this RP. Things are intended to be upbeat and idealistic after all. Unrelatedly, I feel the need to point out that Heisei is, well, Heisei. Yes, yes. I know the kanji are different.

I think it's fairly important to be careful to get the characters appropriate for the setting in order to make things work.

To remind people, you'll be starting off without any magic at all and it'll probably take a little while to pick up your full library of techniques, depending on how big it is. There will be further growth from there.

While you can pick it up a little by yourself, your Familiar or Device is going to be your main tutor probably. In addition to sneaky off somewhere quiet and practicing, they might run you through things in simulation (you seem to be distracted lately!) or in your dreams. How else are they going to get you trained up in time?

I've also realised the profile could do with one or two extra headings. Congratulations to the people who fixed it on their own.

Barrier Jacket: What your lovely costume is like. Make sure it looks good! Don't forget the frills. They are important for justice.
Personality: How your character behaves. Please, no 'They're extremely loud but really quite quiet!'

As for the character "darkness", I actually took him straight from a different story(I make up a lot of them), and made some alterations(names, he no longer openly hates the girl, and isn't a manipulative ****) to fit him in. I also made sure to leave plenty of place for jokes and fun(fear of buses, shards and shells acting without will and appearing out of nowhere...).
Think of it as if the theme for the character was: "Recovery".
Or watch "Shuffle!" and note down similarities(I got inspired).

As for the surname, it means "calm" so as to reflect the characters personality. You can think of it being also the current era as an unintended pun.

BTW: Split the name.

Heh, knew I had to do more work on the profile anyway, and I'll see if I can explain those spells any more than I did. Personally I thought they were really clear, but I guess not. Will be updated soon.

I WILL prove that blood mages don't have to be evil.

Name: Rin (rin means cold, I found this out after I came up with the name, ironic isn't it?).

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Magic Type: Verda. I got powers and i'm not giving them up!

Magic Description: Rin could be described as a blood mage. He has mainly damage over time and buff/debuff spells.

MEGA ATTACKS
Poison: Change a few links in the molocules in your enemy's blood to turn some of it into a deadly poison. Inflicts Poisoned status which does a set amount of damage (I'll come up with a number as soon as I know what kind of balance issues it will cause) each turn/round. <It won't blow up an elephant but it will (eventually) accomplish the same thing.
SPECIAL ATTACKS
Ice blood: Cool an enemy's blood to reduce their speed and numb their reactions. Lasts ? amount of turns/rounds.
Acid blood: Uses simalar teqniqes as the spell poison blood to change a small amount of a targets blood to acid. Causes a small amont of damage and temporary injury that will last for a ? amount of time. Injurys inhibit movement and/or possibly spellcasting depending on their location.
SUPPORT SPELLS
Hot blood: Activate an allies adrenaline glands, speeding them up and improving their reactions.
Blood pact: A ritual spell (sort of). For a set amount of time after the ritual is performed it allows all members of the pact to distribute damage equally. ^Not sure if this spell is overkill or not, but it IS friendship based.

Items/Familiar: Fiarai (pronounced Fee-a-ri), the Phoenix. Rin carries Fiarai around with him everywhere on his left shoulder and Fiarai bends the light around him so that to everyone but mages he looks like a falcon. When about to be felled (if someone is fallen they are too weak to participate in battle, they are NOT dead) he can lend Rin SOME of his power and make him invulnerable (but not invincible) for about 1 round (attack?), sometimes two if being extremely overwhealmed. Also has an obsidion cleaver fused with steel (mostly just a tool or back-up wepon).

Background: Rin Lives with his loving parents and his brother, who is 18. His brother is an Autekka type mage but he and Rin have vowed never to let this come between them and have trained together alot, learning much from each other.

Barrier jacket (effect): A fireshield that somehow melts incoming magic (Rin doesn't get it either, this is just the explaination Fiarai gave him).

Barrier jacket (costume):
Rin's costume has: The fireshield mentioned above, The cleaver that has already been mentioned, some red leather gauntlets, and a red domino mask.

Pesonality: Rin values knowledge above all else and is willing to do alot to protect it. He is a bit impatient and short tempered but tries his best to keep his cool. Rin is a bit nervous around loud people (like Roji Riraku).Rin gets along well enough with both types of mages, the only reason he does not wan't the magic to be stopped is because he feels it would be a huge wasted oppurtunity.

special note: Rin can't fly! He will need help to get airborne.

If anybody has any suggestions i'd be glad to hear them.
