Pretty sure they were intended to look like throwaways. It kind of adds to the "little fish" feel they have going on. 'Cause really, they're like, two of the least important characters in the whole scheme - even the Doctor was pretty much like "yep, don't have time for you," when the second one came along.

Anyway, I'm kinda with Hawk here. (some of) You guys are getting as unpleasable as Marvel/DC fans.

I actually liked the first part, which is nice after disliking the last two specials. Sure, there was some stupid parts (the doctor walks at the master who's shooting force lightning at him, and we're supposed to be surprised he gets hit? I was more surprised that the master missed twice, and all it did was wind the guy) but overall, interesting episode. I genuinly didn't see the time lord bit coming. So yeah, good ep, looking forward to part 2.

Theory time!

I think the "Time Lock" around the war between the Daleks and the Time Lords can only be broken if Time ceases to exist. By creating a timeline where time will eventually end, the Lock is destabilized and the Time Lords can then travel backward to a point of safety. In the current "real" timeline it will be possible to restore Earth to normal (possibly with the help of the Time Lords... that's a lot of Masters to renormalize) and restabilize the future, eliminating the End of Time scenario.

Whelp, just saw part 2.

I'm not going to like Matt Smith. It wont be his fault, but when Ten's last words were "I don't want to go." that pretty much set how I'm going to feel about Eleven.

Good episode, though I'm torn on the ending. It dragged on and on, but on the other hand, who wanted Ten's death to come faster?

Theory wrong. Only things that can enter or exit the time lcok are things that were already there.

The Master helps the Doctor after failing to side with the other Tme Lrods
Gallifrey is larger than Earth
Time Lords' means of contact with pressent day starts to bring the ENTIRE Time War. and that does NOT mean just the Daleks (they ended up iin a different time anyway0

Oh, I don't know. The fact that the regeneration had already started but he still had time to visit all of his most precious people was a bit too much. I liked the episode overall. That just annoyed me a little.

I think I'll wait for a full episode before I decide how I feel about Matt Smith. I don't mind him so far though.

I wasn't too sure about that scene with Jack at the end- I mean seriously, all the different species from across time and space! what the hell are they doing in one building at once?
