I loved the sneek peek of American Dad.
The problem with the show is that too many people will judge it harshly in comparison to Family Guy. Sure Family Guy is probably the better of the two, but you don't have to defend Family Guy by saying the other is worse. (Family Guy will always remain a classic) The one thing I can say is there was only one episode of Family Guy in which I laughed as much as I did during American Dad. (And that was the best episode ever, the one where death first appears in season 2) I do the same thing with the Simpsons though... I can't sit through a new episode of the Simpsons in comparison to the previous seasons. The new episodes depend way too much on punch-lines instead of being just hillarious on its own. If I just watch the new episodes for the sake of being entertained, it gets a few laughs. (no miracles but it is still enjoyable) :bmage:

ok finally saw it on [AS] and it isn't really like Family Guy, and thats the problem. The first 15 minutes were just plain dull. I didn't get the point of the fish. He never actually did anything that affected the story. All he did was come onto the mom.
But I loved the last 15 mins when Steve became president. So it averages out. I will watch it.

The character design on the mom was very weak. Case in point, does anyone remember her name? No? Right. If this show survives and is successful, she's going to be a major weak spot.

Francine. Her name is Francine. :p
Granted, the show looked kind of like Family Guy, and some of the jokes were weak. But this was the first episode. They needed to show us who the characters were without giving us full bios when they first appear. I'm keeping my hopes up. (And for the record, it looks like Steve is smart, not dumb like Chris, and the sister is popular, but a hippy, not a loser like Meg.)

I liked the episode, but it can't compare upto Family Guy. But somethings are just to much.
Like the alien as people have already said. CIA person hiding an aliens identity, kinda old I think. Though I did like the alien being a fatass. Another character is the fish, could have potential to be funny, but I'm not holding my breath. Steve, could have some good jokes from him, being nerdish at school can have that affect. But the sister, I can't see much coming from her, but I don't think Mcfarlane is that stupid to just throw in a useless character. And I think the biggest jokes (for me) is comming from the dad. His paranoia just makes me laugh. The mom, is just to be there to be a mom from what I see so far. But over all... I give it a 'Meh'. Meaning, I'll watch it, but I don't expect it to stay long, and he should stick with Family Guy. Because everyone loves stupid humor. We shall wait and see.
