While you can probably say something broad and generic like "Dem gays are nothing but trouble" and ensure an implicit understanding that you're playing a role, the problem is it's very easy to gradually shift the imaginary conversation outside the bounds of decorum when the 'insults' get more specific, as they inevitably tend to. And I don't want an otherwise fun game of Mafia turning into a series of hurtful comments. Generally speaking, you should intuitively know where the 'line' is. (After all, you're not a conservative.) And you should avoid crossing that line. But if you don't know where the 'line' is, the good news is there's about ten-trillion other Republican stereotypes you can make jokes about that are totally all right, including war policy, national security, the environment, the second amendment, excessive corporate ties, excessive religious ties, excessive nationalism, distrust of science, Ayn Rand's bullshit, the war on drugs, originalism in constitutional law, Fox News quips, invasion of privacy, hating on Hollywood celebrities, supporting the death penalty, despising sexual promiscuity, etc. Those topics should keep you plenty busy.

Since jokes would be made about Republicans, jokes can be made about Democrats too. If you can't take it, don't dish it. That kind of deal. Right?
If this gets too political and not mafia-like, I'm probably going to drop relatively quickly. |

I was looking forward to reading a few snide snippets of political commentary from a few folks here who might enjoy the roleplaying aspect; however, if it becomes too big a distraction or if it breaches the aforementioned topics I'd prefer us to avoid, I might have to institute a roleplaying ban.
Generally what I've learned regarding Mafia is, the less ground rules from the creator the more fun the game can be as people take things in unexpected directions. So I'd prefer not to force a roleplaying ban unless I have to.

Anonymous games are way better.

Sitting out.

Also, I like how Snake decided Persona was too sensitive a subject to make a Mafia game of, and then went on to determine the American political spectrum was somehow preferable.

I honestly thought everyone's legitimate hatred of Republicans would make the game concept far less divisive and less controversial
