Cut to the Core

What disappoints me about this is the garbage load of hostile responses. Did she use people? Absolutely. Yet one should actually think about not only the intention but also what her action afterwards has been: revealing the truth of the experiment which relied on a deception and refunding those who object.
Calling the woman a 'psycho' is completely insane.

The whole thing reminds me of an angsty teen pretending to be suicidal for sympathy. Just a little more elaborate and with scamming to boot. Pathetic and unforgivable. What makes me sickest is that some of the people that she led on with this were probably friends of hers. Who would have the audacity to do that to good friends and pass it off as some inane experiment? Bah.

Sorry, I'll believe this whole thing was an "experiment" right after I believe that tiny elves are responsible for atomic motion.

... About the scam though, I also think many of the responses are abusive. Especially considering that at least some of the most foul mouthed ones are probably just piling on gregariously, without any real connection to the thing before the scandal broke out.

I'm really not going to get too worked up over the possibility of her poor little feelings being hurt because A) odds of her actually having any worth the name are slim and B) scammers feel nothing but contempt for others -- every angry comment no doubt has her laughing her ass off. That alone is reason enough for people to stop commenting -- why give her any further satisfaction?
Anyone who seriously believes she's an innocent little cutie-pie who never meant any harm by all this needs to read the conversation she had with the friend who called her out. Creepy.

Fate Averted

Here's my view on it.
Is this girl a complete idiot? Hell yeah. Even if she's telling the truth now, it's not to be defined as an 'expirement.' In my eyes, this was a bet with her dad. And not just taking advantage of people, but to make up something so cruel is just stupid. When I read the story before I knew it was a scam, I had trouble imagining what kind of heartless jackass would do this. That's a big issue with people nowadays--they don't accept the cruel things people can do. You know how some people refuse to believe stuff like the Holocaust ever happened? This is faintly like that in that, well, people will say, "Ohhh, see, no one would do something that mean! Haha, I knew it was a load. Everyone loves furry animals!" And as much as I would LOVE for life to really be like that (Note, that's not sarcasm), we have to be ready for when crap like this does happen. She's decreasing trust for those who might have helped when someone actually NEEDS it. However, she IS returning the money, and she CLAIMS it would have gone to the SPCA. That she says she's sorry, we can't be sure of, as it's just words on a screen, not someone actually saying with emotion in their voice. To use good people just to prove her daddy wrong is stupid and unfair, as she should just tell her pops to shove it and be happy with her own knowledge of the fact that there are good people. But now, because of this little bet, there are less to rely on. Hopefully, we can get past this eventually, and when someone who actually needs true help, there will still be enough good people around willing to lend it. |
