A Sony Embarrassment - Page 3

I became "anti-Nintendo" when I learned that Final Fantasy games were going over to Sony. Then I played FF7 and FF8 and became a Nintendo fan again.

I'm going to sit back and let the prices drop. I hardly have time to play anything now because of work. It'll take me at least two years to play all the ps2 games I have lying around. By then, I'll know what's good, what's bad and I'll be able to afford it.

I'm not a hater of Sony, or Nintendo. But I have a long-standing disapointment with what Sony does.

Look, the fact is, Nintendo has made an outstanding claim to fame with their motion-sensitive controller, cheaper price tag, downloadable retro games, and corny name. Sony fucked up, with the slapped on rip-offs of both 360 (Two versions, only one of which anyone wants) and motion-sensitive controller, enormous price tag, and no real launch titles to speak of.

But that's where my point comes in - launch titles. Like, the launch that isn't here, and won't be for a while. Do we really have to be anti-Sony or anti-Nintendo?

The reason I'm not in support of the PS3 is because I have to pay 600$ for, basically, a couple of games. I don't want any of the extra functions. Perhaps their gimmic of two different versions would have come off better if there was a copy without all of the extra features that cost too much, and hit about 350-400 dollars.

Sony's always been a corporation of morons though. Their shitty customer service in their MMO branch, their hypocritical statement on the release of the PSP, their hypocritical and shitty 'innovation' and 'change' on the release of the PS3, the list continues.

i never said that the Wii sucked... what i meant was that it dosent matter who copied who or whatever... what WILL matter are the games...

Nintendo SAID they are aimming for the more casual gamers and "family party" games... they have products for their core gamers and granchise lovers, but the Wii seens more like a Home console love child from the DS + GC union... which is not a bad thing at all... just need to remenber that Nintendo dosent care about Sony's target audience... they are trying to create one of their own...

Also... i dont liek they way people keep saying that the PS3 is all about repetition and unimaginative design... they have good 3rd party companies, talented creators and designers and a powerfull machine... its not about JUST the graphics... the PS3 has a lot of potential for good games...

its not that one "rox" and the other "sux"... it is what it is...

So stop bashing sony and praising nintendo... start judging the system for its games!

Well, Nintendo's announced that it will be $250, if that counts for anything.

Also, Bellsouth, I just don't want any of the games on the PS3, because chances are, I can buy any of their prequels for the PS2 along with the system for about the cost of the PS3. The cheap one.

I'm going to say this again because it bears repeating, although it'll probably have the same impact. Yes Nintendo wants to draw in non-gamers and less than dedicated gamers. To that end they are making some easy and approachable games. But Nintendo has also said they wanted everyone to have and use a Wii. I don't think Nintendo is so stupid as to think that quick simple "kidde" games are going to do that for them. Of course even if Nintendo was that stupid they have quite a bit of 3rd party support. Also, in this vein Project H.A.M.M.E.R, Diaster: Day of Crisis, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and (in the 3rd party category) Red Steel don't look all the short simple and playable by my parents or grand parents.

There is no universal law that says you must read this thread or defend Sony. As Bob said this was supposed to be about that rather humorous video he posted. Its only tangentially related to the subject of the merits of the PS3 and now we are way off track.

It certainly seems you think the Wii isn't going to be worth it for any serious gamer or whoever the "target" audience for the PS3 is.

Also, I really don't feel like spending $500 to $600 for something that only plays games, DVDs, and MP3s. Maybe if it functioned as a DVR or something it'd be worth it. Even my computer can do that (function as a DVR that is) along with surfing the net, video, audio, and picture editing, typing reports, and many other things. I just can't justify that much money no matter what games are released. I'd dare say that's the stance of most of us in this thread.

Now that that's over that giant grab thing was awesome. I mean its common knowledge that many historical battles were against giant animals. I wonder if you get to fight Godzilla at some point.

Biblical Assassin? Knife fights? Graphics my computer would have to kill itself for?

The main reason is...well, take a good look at the Dungeons and Dragons Oriental Adventures. I hate to sound racist, but alot of the chinese/japanese culture coined from animals, and from there they decided, "hey, you know what'd be fun? If you, like, fought the Crab clan, then you fought a GIANT ENEMY CRAB! CRAB BATTLE!"

It's corny, but having played more than enough of Oriental Adventures, I can safely say it's kosher with me.

Oh its prefectly fine by me too. It's just really funny when they tout historical accuracy while fighting a bunch of large crabs and one really giant crab. It's just far to funny not to pick on. Really that joke right there is almost enough reason to buy a PS3 and if I had the spare change I'd probably pick one up.
