Seriously, I read that article and scrolled down to see if anyone had already said it, and you did. You. It couldn't be anyone else. >_< Seriously, how would his/her friends tease? (S)He doesn't have to say when his/her birthday is in school. Of course kindergarten would ruin that, but oh well. I would think that telling a teacher to celebrate your childs brithday on a different day would be easier than keeping a baby that is supposed to come out inside of you. |

I can't believe you people.
You all get ticked off when you start flaming one another, yet when it comes to what people believe in, you guys jump right off the gun. This superstition about the number "666" is of religious background. Are you people calling others stupid for having beliefs such as those. Sure it may be unreasonable to many of us (including myself), but because we don't believe in it, doesn't mean that everyone who does is stupid. This issue can be related to any other superstision or phobia, from walking under ladders, to being afraid of heights. Humans are always fearful. Especially of what they don't know about (hence God-Fearing). But we can still be afraid of what we know of as well. Like heck, I know that this "666" is bull, but growing up in a catholic household, I've grown to accept that people sometimes just believe in these things. Like I know this lady that gets really really upset if someone opens an umbrella indoors. And my parents used to always tell me to never step over my sibllings (it's meant to stop them from growing), and if I were to, I'd have to cancel out the effect by stepping back over. It's funny how its meant to work sometimes. And like have you guys heard that wearing blue cancels out evil eyes? Well I pray to God that it's true, cause if looks could kill, my sister would be a mass murderer. So refrain from calling the superstitious Quote:
Heheheh: On the 06/06/06, they showed a report on how superstitious some people were about having their child on that date. It then goes to show a satanist being really excited about the day. My mum responded to the TV and saying "Go to Hell." Ain't that were they wanna go? Oh and sk3L3t0n, bullying is a big issue in schools. Anyone can tease or be teased, and it doesn't have to be something rational either - kids usually don't respond to logic. I think a mother who has concerns of her child being teased for whatever reason would have that maternal instinct to look after her child - even before it was born. But yeah - holding the child in? That's extreme. Ignorance is bliss.
Think about it.

I like to laugh at the stupidity of others.
Then, the almighty force of Irony goes and laughs at me when I go and do something stupid right afterwards. It's win-win!

Superstition is just another way of saying ignorance, ray.z. I shouldn't have to respect people because they are ignorant. And being afraid of a number is entirely different than being afraid of heights. If you are high-enough up, and you fall, you will die. If you are born on six-six-six, you probably will be a normal kid and not in fact Satan. Being afraid of a date is stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

No, there are too many factors to consider when "calling" a person something. But in terms of gullibility, yes, I would say someone is "stupid" to believe in 666 (an arbitrary name assigned to a symbol).' Quote:
In other news: The Daily Show did an awesome bit on this.

Seriously, would you rather have a really fucked up baby, or just tell teh teachers to celebrate the brithday on a different day? Or even tell your child the wrong birthday. Sure, that's like not telling them that they're adopted, but people do that. My 38 year old cousin just learned that she was adopted. 38. Thirty-fuggin'-eight. Ridiculous, but people do it.
So it boils down to: Messed up child, or lie to child. Also, I'm not sure on the average amount of children born in a day, but most of them are probably happy kids. In their teens, they will joke about it. If you are weird about it, don't take them to a private/religious school. Oh darn, they don't learn about God in religion class, although if you are that religious, you probably have bible-reading time every night. |

All in all, I find the "666" thing to be funny, but I don't go calling the people who believe it has meaning stupid. Or the belief itself. And, in all honesty, I do believe in the Antichrist, but my beliefs concerning that are more or less the opposite of what the public makes it out to be. And the world did end yesterday. For me, at least. <_< Last day in High School, sans-exams. Now I'm almost a man. Edit: And yes, yesterday had nothing to do with 666. >_> Which just makes it that much more amusing. I just realized something.
June 6th, 2006; other than lazy people (most of us who find writing the whole thing tedious), it has no relation to the term 666. Shortening something and then interpreting it is stupid. No religious shields, no blame-dodging. Then again, I just realized it. Just now. So obviously I'm stupid, too. XD |
