Urge to kill... rising!
|
Gotta be honest, I read over the Looking for Group Comics and Richard just doesn't have the same sort of soul as BM. Sure, 8Bit has had more time for character development, but BM does not exist simply to indiscriminately kill everything.
BM also has notable character flaws, whereas Richard's portrayal thus far contains no actual weaknesses. Shamans stop his magic? kills them with physical combat. To be sure, this is like BM's stabbity death scenes, but BM does all of those under cover of darkness. As far as evil, again we have the number of comics thing, but even still BM's atrocities are generally more evil, but BM also moderates his evil. He does not need to be killing something in every single comic. Even his snark is topical depending on the stupidity of the other light warriors. Basically what it boils down to is Richard is little more than a device for indiscriminate derision and destruction. You could literally replace him with a recurring wrecking ball on whatever he's killing and you get the same effect. Brian might laugh about the one-dimensionality of his characters, but Richard is almost no-dimensional. |

And chance I could use this for my own story I have been working on? I think it will fit right in with Russian Roulette, zeppelin edition and tying the cats together by their tails and throwing them over a clothesline. |

The thing is, that Richard mocks Sword of Truth, which is such an excellent thing to do that he can't be that evil.

As far as irredeemably evil characters go, I prefer the likes of BM and Belkar to Richard.

I love them both. BM probably more of a favourite. I mean he didn't only just sacrifice the nine orphaned children just for fun. He is more evil then Richard at the moment. Richard does come across as more cruel. A petty sort of cruel.
