Wait, you don't have any questions about the Star Maps? Huh.
Anyways, yes, definitely go to Tatooine first to get HK. HK-47 is (in my opinion) the deadliest non-Jedi character. The last time I played, I had a high mental stats character low STR, DEX, and CON, who kept dieing, but HK-47 survived and blasted the crap out of my foes. Unfortunatly, HK-47 has 1-1 damage for hand-to-hand combat, and cannot equip melee weapons, so use him as a hit-and-run character. In fact, once I got HK, I used only my main character, him, and T3. I was a master of droids. It was great. 2. I never get around to doing the noble familes quest, so can't help you there. 3. I love both those powers, but most of their uses are Darkside, so I think you have a little bit less use of them. 4. Apparently you can if you switch around the script a little. 5. Stealth is exactly as others have said. Any other questions? |

Carth is extremely whiny, but that's 'cause he's got huge trust issues related to an old friend of his. You'll figure that out later.
It was a very nice surprise when Carth suddenly made a guest appearance in the Dark Horse KOTOR comics, which take place right before KOTOR: Sith Lords. It gives his character alot more flesh to him as well. It helps that the comics were already fantastic.

Carth is one of my favorite characters, and so far I've been able to tolerate his whining. I already know some of the basic info about his friendship with Saul, but I have a lot more to learn before it's all over.
I'm starting to like Bastila a little more. She's grown on me a bit. I still like Mission more than Bastila, though. For now. Carth also gets extra points for actually pointing out and bitching about the glaring plothole of the main character getting out of jedi training so quickly. (I generally can swallow difficult-to-believe plot points a little easier when a character in the storyline recognizes it and calls 'em out on it, for some reason.) As for the Star Forge, well I have no idea what the hell it is, but I really have no questions about it or the Star Maps just yet. I'm willing to figure that out as I go along. Tomorrow I'll try to play through some of Tatooine if/when I get the chance. I suspect I'll go there first unless someone makes a terribly convincing argument otherwise. You know what else I want, though, in addition to HK-47? A purple-hued lightsaber. So far I have red, green, blue and yellow hues. (The yellow hue surprised me because seriously, who in the Star Wars movies uses yellow? At least Mace Windu built a precedent for purple, and purple's apparently not even in the game yet.) I'm looking forward to giving my main character green and purple lightsabers (seperate, I like the badassedness of the main character wielding two seperate lightsabers, in fact I think it looks cooler than the Darth Maul double-saber technique.) Green and purple are two of my favorite colors. I'll keep Bastila with a yellow double-saber (her designated color fits her somehow,) I suspect cat-girl's going with a red or blue double-saber (I'm also hoarding cat-girl with dark side powers, she'll be my primary dark-side caster, though I'll also have the main character learn a few. I just need to corrupt her a bit so they'll become less expensive.) I'm going to be so disappointed if purple isn't actually a valid lightsaber color in this game. Which needs me to my next question...what are your favorite color hues for sabers?

In the original, I liked using a Red sabre and Blue short sabre. In two, when there were more colour options, I used a silver sabre and a viridian short.
Which reminds me of a good piece of advice for you - get a sabre and short-sabre over just the basic double sabre, because then you can put crystals in both instead of just the one. I think purple was in there. I know it was in 2, but I'm not certain if it's in the original.

Short-sabre? Whaaaa? My guy's just wielding two regular ol' sabres right now, each of equal length. There are short sabres?

Yeah, there are shorter sabres. They do slightly less damage, but they off-set the two-weapon-fighting penalty the same way that using a light weapon in the off-hand helps you in DnD (+2 to your main attack roll).

Is the original longer than the sequel? The sequel seemed to end as soon as you started to really get going, in terms of building up your character.

They're about the same legnth. Unless you're refering to character build-up in terms of storyline, where the second game pales in comparison. But that was because LucasArts wanted the game out before Christmas, so a ton of end stuff was cut out.

I had a double purple up until close to the end, when I decided, hell, I'm 100% Dark Side, might as well make it red.
If you're after a double saber, I think your first opportunity to get one is on Tattoine. Also, not to spoil anything, but the Dark Side ending is considered the canonical ending for the next game. Just sayin'. |

Purple lightsaber crystals can be found in the lightsabers looted from Sith and Dark Jedi, and the earliest place that comes to mind for that is Kashyyyk.
You're also not alone on the Mission thing. I adored her. The problem is that anything she can do, T3 can do better, which boils down to lock picking and computer slicing. In fact, my character could slice better than her because back on Taris I got off on taking control of the computers and just wasting everyone from the other side of the compound at every given opportunity. I did get a fair bit of use out of Mission, though, just because I liked having the Twi'lek eye candy around. She's pretty much usable in any scenario that T3 would be good for after Taris and she's typically at least better in combat than the little droid, as well. I always used Canderous as a ranged attacker just because he came predesigned for it. I mean, equip a heavy blaster on him and just let him go and he'll mow down anything in a heartbeat. Don't see what good putting a vibroblade on him would be, really. As for the cat girl: You will always hate her. She is unbearable, her side story's lame, and the fallout from killing her was more interesting in my opinion. It's like keeping Cid alive in FF6. Sure, it's nice and happy for about a minute and a half, but you miss out on other, more mildly entertaining stuff. I swear, after the fifth or sixth time she said she was irredeemably corrupt I just agreed and force lightninged her back to the stone age.
