This O'Reilly strikes me as a homophobe.

Slightly related article...
Which takes the opinion that O'Reilly picks up stories like this, and various salacious stories, instead of focusing in on actually important things that are happening in the news. SWB

That being said, what was written in that article makes some sense. I mean, he's a relatively old man, so it would make sense he'd be more interested in... arousing pieces of news, shall we say. :p Anything for more airtime, I suppose. In all seriousness though, the whole lesbian yearbook thing does make for some interesting news, if not headline. It seems (to me) to show a shift in attitudes toward the whole same-sex thing.

All it takes is one good comeback in those situations and you'll have the whole crowd laughing at them. Then who's "popular"?

Aw crap. Your post inspired me to try for class co-pres, but now I'm no longer in school to attempt it. Boo.
Still, I've never heard of anybody actually challenging those "popular guys". Or winning. I swear some people just vote for them because of their "popular" label, and not because they actually care to think about their vote.

Eh, I actually ran for shits and giggles because I met all the qualifications and it was an excuse to put up a bunch of weirdass posters with my name on it all over the place.
Who would've thought using "Resistance is futile" as a campaign slogan would work?

One of the geeky kids ran for student council my last year of HS. He won because his campaign was hilarious. He was one of those "They can't laugh at me if they laugh with me" types; people still laughed at him, of course, and nobody stopped thinking of him as a loser, but that kind of chutzpah demands a little respect.
Popularity is a strange thing. I think there's a distinction to be made between "socially dominant" and "well-liked," which may be correlated but not the same. I don't know. Most of HS is pretty meaningless to me now; I only take out my memorabilia if I feel like marveling at how lame we all were and how much has changed. Then again, I don't see why these girls shouldn't have the same privilege. |

We received a reported post on this thread, and the person who reported that post knows who he is and what he reported.
That is not blatant trolling, or even trolling in the slightest. It is an observation, not any particularily inflammatory or otherwise derogative one at that. Kindly refrain from using the report post button in the future until you can discren the difference between a troll and just someone who irks you.

I can get along with anyone you throw at me, provided they're not devoid of redeeming features. I've known gay people who were totally great, football players who wrote some killer poetry, and some of the hottest girls in school were some of the smartest, nicest people I've met.
People are people and should be treated as such.
