Wait... you thought we were friends?
Oh man, that's a great one.

Personally, the relationship parts are some of my favorites because they are cute and most of it rings true and doesn't seem fake.
Like this'n and this'n. I also love the ones where he has a big intelligent or romantic set-up, then makes a 'your mom' joke. |

I would have assumed DFM loved this comic, as I imagine this is the kind of sick homocidal deviant cruelty he thinks of on a daily, oh who am I kidding, hourly basis

Language is the third word in "The English Language." All the stuff about "gry" is disregarded for the purposes of the awful joke.

It is an awful joke, I will sympathize with the XCD guy that far.

I like xkcd. But I don't like its forums. It's full of people who live for sarcasm, math and language and have no idea what romance is. The kind of geeks who are so scared of the world they cling to logic, of all things, to avoid facing their insecurities. Normally I can ignore outside factors and enjoy comics in themselves, but thinking about the amount of people who gather around xkcd and get their neuroses validated by group consensus isn't funny.
(I know I can't have spelled all that right.)

...Not that we're a whole lot better hereabouts. I'm gonna go ahead and say that contrary to a lot of other people I actually really enjoy the mushy lurvey Romance Comics crap in XKCD. Among other things it's inspiring to see someone trying to locate comedy at a point removed from the usual sources of bitterness, spite, hostility, hatred, and generalized loathing of other human beings. It's possible to construct versions that actually work, but that sort of thing doesn't really appeal to the type of person who send stupid fucking forward-me mails; said subset of humanity inclines much more towards the "Knock knock" "Who's there?" "Uh... you're a faggot! HAW HAW I GOT YOU" school of comedic discipline.

Shit, I'm a science geek and we make science jokes all day in the department but I find XKCD terrible. The jokes just aren't that funny and are often predictable and stuff we've made before.
