Chris Farley would be a hilarious Black Mage for all the wrong reasons.
Pick a Black Mage line. Just pick one. Now imagine Chris Farley doing it. Comedy gold. Probably meant David Spade, though. |

If I were a director, and I decided to make an 8-bit Theatre live-action movie - and I would - this would be my ideal cast. I bolded the names that I feel would be particularly appropriate.
Fighter: Matthew Broderick. Black Mage: Robert Downey Jr (because he needs to be in every movie and I couldn't think of anyone else). Maaaaybe Neil Patrick Harris, just to round off the Dr Horrible cast and fill in the BM/WM dialectic. Thief: Daniel Craig. Red Mage: Johnny Depp. White Mage: FELICIA DAY. No one else. If she could not make it I would cancel the project entirely. Black Belt: Nathan Fillon. Garland: Vin Diesel. You know he voiced the Iron Giant? Bikke: Who else but Geoffrey Rush? Vilbert: Tobey Maguire. Drizz'l: Samuel L. Jackson. He just has the right attitude for it. King Steve: Mark Hamill. Trust me on this one. Princess Sara: Jenny McCarthy. Sarda: Patrick Stewart.

I'm trying to find a way to shove Johnny Depp into the cast. Also, Steven Segal should be Black Belt.

A young Steve Martin would be perfect for Red Mage, as it stands I think he might be too old for the part.
Ray Liotta as Thief. I'm not entirely sure why. And Matt Chapman (aka King of Towns) as King Steve. SWB

King of the dancing Teddy Bears.

If we could have Jeremy Clarkson as Thief, I feel it would work all too well.

Personally, I don't see this as a Live Action being all that great... It could but the perfect actors for each roll are all drastically different ages and although that might add to the hilarity of the situation... I see it working much better as some sort of CGI film with voice actors.... then all these people, regardless of age, can do brilliant voices for these people.
How hasn't Robin Williams been fit in here yet?! |

I came up with these a while ago:
BM: Kevin Farley Fighter: Will Ferrell RM: Stephen Colbert WM: Claire Danes Drizz'l: Robert Downey Jr. Princess Sara: Leah Remini King Steve: Leslie Nielsen (It's nowhere near the weird British voice I imagined for Steve, but whatever.) Sarda: Sean Connery Ranger: Orlando Bloom

8-Bit theatre cannot have a live action movie. It's EIGHT BIT THEATRE!!! That'd be like making a live action Looney Tunes or Mickey Mouse. It would have to be an animated flick. In which case, the voices would have to be...
Black Mage: Alan Rickman (Plays Severus Snape, Judge Turpin, and Hans Gruber amoung others) Fighter: Billy West (Voice of Ren, Stempy, Zoidburg, Zapp Branigan, and Phillip Fry amoung others.) Red Mage: Ed Helms (Of the Daily Show and the Office) Thief: Neil Flynn (The Janitor from Scrubs) White Mage: Felicia Day (Penny from Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog) Black Belt: Greg Grunberg (Of Heroes and Alias) Garland: Steve Carrell (Who you all should damn well know) Drizz'l: Jon Stewart (Star of the Daily Show) Vilbert: Jason Segal (Of Forgetting Sarah Marshal, How I Met Your Mother, and Knocked Up) Bikke: Hank Azaria (Voice of classic Simpson characters such as Apu, Moe, Chief Wiggum, and... well... the Sea Captain) Sarda: Tommy Lee Jones (Of The Fugitive, Batman Forever, and Men in Black) King Steve: Jeff Anderson (Randal Graves of Clerks fame) Dragoon: Jason Lee (Of my Name is Earl, Mallrats, and Alvin and the Chipmunks) The Onion Kid: Michael Cera (Of Arrested Development, Juno, and Superbad) Akbar: John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, The Flinstones, and Monster's Inc) Cleric: David Cross (Of Arrested Development and Mr. Show) Ranger: Neil Patrick Harris (Of Doogie Howser, How I Met Your Mother, and Harold and Kumar Beserker: Mackenzie Crook: (Of the Office (UK) and the Pirates of the Carribean series) Rogue: Will Arnett (Of Arrested Development, Blades of Glory, and Semi Pro) |
