Yes, believe it or not, I think they changed the thing in a way that makes it kind of shitty and less-good than it was. So yeah, I get a bit tetchy when someone links me to a thing that says "hey, anyone who thinks any change ever made to a thing makes it kind of shitty and less-good than it was is some kind of fukkin' idiot! So fukk u!"

Unless there's an irony that I'm missing somewhere but when you go onto argue that the thing is basically pretty good, after you've linked the thing saying that people are idiots if they don't think the thing is basically pretty good, then um... ??

It's even possible I'd be willing to bullshit myself into a more charitable interpretation of the page currently in question if like half the entries there didn't link directly back to that ridiculous "Fan Dumb" page.

Also, Square managed to pull off something well here:

There's a copy protection in the game that locks the game into a loop at many places. People trying to get rid of it found out that it ended up corrupting all other files in their flashcart. It's not an issue anymore apparently, they found a way around it...But hey, SE managed to screw piracy for a bit.

Edit: Not sure if I can talk about the piracy, so if any mods feel it's not appropriate...Well, tell me or edit the post? I don't know.
Considering as my first post in the thread was openly advocating piracy I'm gonna say you're okay. Long as you stay away from like, the particulars of how people managed to break this copy protection method, or where one would go to get this hack of the DS cart or how to run it on this or that hardware/software it should be cool.

General rule of thumb for these things: piracy views = okay, piracy advice = Brian Clevinger doesn't like DMCA notices.

True, but to me TVTropes is meant to be verbally abusive to absolutely everything related to entertainment media. While I can understand linking this to directly abuse someone's sacred cows or point out a stereotype something is engaging in, I really really don't get how come people link TVTropes about other people.

And I'm not just talking NPF, this seems to be catching on at other forums I frequent too.

Back on topic; this got me back into doing my CT: DS Sporking review! Prepare for the hate.

I love me some Chrono Trigger.

I tolerate me some Chrono Trigger DS.

They could have done so much to the game. The addition of two piddly little dungeons with one of them being a damnable fetch quest was beyond annoying. Granted it did open up the ending to link with Chrono Cross, but the addition was not worth the money.

I am going to change my review I have at Gamepad dojo. Thev game itself is an A+, the DS version is a D at most.

The trick is getting the items/armor that cut down on fire damage. I don't remember that fight being particularly terrible, but it's been awhile.

That being said, I don't have a DS, so I can't say anything from experience based on the DS version. I watched the added on ending on youtube and it made me go "WTF", though.

Let's just agree that I fucked up trying to look cute without thinking it thoroughly. I'm really sorry about this.

Square Enix's DS games have been like this since Final Fantasy III, I think. The DS is the most piratable current video game platform out there, so it's not surprising they're trying to get a bit ahead of the pirates.

Not that it is doing them any good when the games get hacked in less than a week, but the intention is what counts.

I agree the Square Enix tax is idiotic, but I don't think they ever put this game as anything but a port.

IIRC I think RT's joke was "hahaha, we're all totally Silly Fanboys Who Hate Everything New, amirite? But no seriously, folks" but it got mixed up in execution.

I don't remember equipping anything special for that fight and I was never in any trouble. The damage was fairly low.
I did level up fairly early though, on the battle robot I think.

I do. In fact, there was a point in the game where getting the Fireproof gear was a big help, even when you could upgrade to something "better", since the heaviest damage was fire elemental.

I do as well.

In fact, I remember taking negligible damage (if any at all) for that reason. Hence doing a battle for about 10+ minutes.
