How else did you think they would respond? By claiming to be victims of those horrible meanies in the White House.

Those are really the same thing, one doesn't lead into the other. Business as usual is "Lies and Play the Victim"

When a government condemns a news outlet, someone must be showing staggering incompetence. In my country we'd assume that someone was the government, and they'd likely be facing a form of trial for making that sort of accusations. But then, we don't have any Fox News. >_>

Edit: Ugh. Just saw their fucking comments section. Can anyone say reactionary trolls? I'll be over here trying not to be sick at some of the filth they're spewing. Edit again: And by filth, I'm not just talking language, though there is a share of that. Just, ugh. Read it yourself if you want to seriously reconsider having faith in humanity.

I mean, fascism still has a lot of government control over business. Musolini called it a Corporate State. Fascists hated both unrestrained capitalism and state run communism. Fascist didn't go as far as Communists did, but their ideas were in the same vein. Both did nationalize a number of industries(just communism was all the industries, while fascism stopped at a point). EDIT: Yes, I know, the wealthy/businesses did have quite a bit more say than the average joe in Fascist governments, but it doesn't mean the whole government was out for privatization. That said, you are right that in general, when a government condemns a news outlet, it is exhibiting staggering incompetence. The phrase "Never get into a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel" comes to mind. Does anyone think Fox is anything other than thrilled to have the white house publicly calling them out? This is something you leave to media surrogates. Can't they just subcontract this out to Olbermann or someone? He could do an hour-long special comment addressing the issue. |

They're right about Fox news though, no need to pull punches when it's so blatantly obvious.
Seriously, it's unwatchable. I cringe when I'm flipping channels and accidentally see an excited gleam in one of the newscaster's eyes, no matter what they're reporting on they talk like a bunch of fucking meth heads. Whether it's on the evils of health care reform or the tragic death of some random murder victim. |
