Sure. But the problem for Fray is that he's part of a prodigious mercenary group. It'd look bad if they killed their employers after a job is finished.

Even if the kill is entirely justified.

We'll just a bandit killed him because the idiot tried to fight, plant some evidence and that sort of stuff. Who are they going to believe, the dead guy and the dead bandit who we killed to avenge the stupid employee, or the living guy from a well known merc group who never does things like that?

Nah, see, Frayson plans to get Terrence and the dragon safe and sound to wherever they were going. At which point he couldn't very well frame a bandit for it.

Though maybe Terrence "accidentally" gets mauled by his own dragon upon reaching the destination.

Getting attacked by wolves and magical raccoon-cats with rocks. It's dark and in a forest, so everyone eventually gets taken down. Also story purposes. They're only aiming to subdue (PCs).

Everyone is getting captured or killed. The latter is just NPCs, while the former has all the PCs and some NPCs.
