I'm not going to hold this trailer not showing off any plot against this game, in part because not every trailer needs to be about plot, but also because it might not be a plot-necessary game. Some games aren't about plot. The plot is merely an excuse for the gameplay. Provided the gameplay is good, that's okay. An excellent recent example is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The plot is almost non-existent, takes place in maybe fifteen minutes of cutscene at most, and is forgettable at best. I don't really hold that against the game since it was just there so they could do the gameplay, which was enjoyable. Keep in mind, this is different from games with terrible plot where cutscenes are plentiful and the plot won't leave you the fuck alone. It could go either way, but I really don't have enough to go off of right now.

Right now I am extremely apathetic. The fighting looked like it could be good, but the scene was just blah. There was nothing to it to make me care one way or the other about anything going on. It could end up catching me later, or it could end up not, but for now? Resounding meh.

Are you a bad enough dude to kill the Buddha with ninjas?
Honestly any hero that starts out cosplaying as the Ten of Swords has already sold me.

I'm pretty skeptical from that trailer, especially to compare it to DmC games. It's definitely a spectacle game, which is fine since DmC works with that too. But what I'm not sold on is how many quick time events they put in the trailer. Now quick time events make a cut scene more like game play, but I'm still waiting several seconds to do another action.
It's way to early to tell if this will ruin the game or not. But I'm going to be wary first on this one. There a lot of potential for a great, fast-paced, action oriented game; but a series of quick time events can kill that if it's not done carefully. I hope it turns out well though, I'm always a fan of Capcom.

It's CC2 so expect QTEs ahoy. I'm hoping that Capcom will make them tone it down, though. If it's packed full of QTEs then that would be disappointing.
I kind of like that all the protagonist does is growl, at least in the trailer. Reminds me of older games and those cartoons where they managed to put forward a story and give characters some kind of personality through noises and actions. Think the Lego XX games for an example of what I'm talking about. Last edited by mudah.swf; 09-16-2010 at 03:17 PM. |

I got the impression they muted the dialogue in the trailer, maybe to draw the focus from the unimportant plot to the glorious violence.

For fuck's sake it's an action game, will the lack of voice acting (which by the way I think is awesome) really put you all off if the game's fun enough? It's not like we're getting Shakespere here.

I think it'd have put me off less if there had actually been no voice acting, instead of really bad angry grunting screaming voice acting that seems like it was pulled out of a particularly obnoxious episode of DBZ.

Actually, I think it'd be pretty cool if there was no talking from the protagonist, just grunts and yells, so long as there was a story reason for it. Story reasons for silent protagonists is something I'd like to see toyed with in games. I mean, it's pretty much guaranteed that he does talk in the game. I just think it'd be cool
