I for one go to Batman movies to see Batman. I mean, I get what you mean about the appeal of the villains, but there is also a lot about Batman's character and psyche that I want to see.

I have no hope for this, but if the DC side of the super hero movie industry crashes then it's not THAT much of a loss.

I get what you are saying but in my opinion they dont really do that in the movies. They seem to mostly gloss over or just re-harsh what was in the Tim Burton movie. I dont care too much because I have little hope this Batman would interest me to begin with.

I admittedly never really liked those movies, I know shock of shocks, so I am admittedly bias to whatever they brought in. I didn't see anything new or interesting in that Batman

"There's a time for subtlety, and that time was before Batman Forever"
It's been a while since I saw the Tim Burton movies but I seem to recall they did a great job of showing, in direct if maybe somewhat open to interpretation terms, what the Nolan narrative spends twelve thousand million hours talking and talking and talking about to make sure and cover everything interesting the audience may have to say about them.

The second one did a much better job because it delved into his loneliness and his relationship towards Catwoman, which culminates in the ending scene where he tears his mask off. He also compares and contrasts himself with Penguin because they are both orphans.
The first one though did nothing to really go into Batman's psyche other than he wants revenge on the man who killed his parents, and that's the Joker, so they fight. |

I heard a rumour that one of the stipulations of Affleck signing up was he got a say (unknown how much) in the screenplay. This raises my interest because I (obviously at this point) hate Goyer's writing, it was my main beef with Man of Steel and I have no point he'll run Batman vs. Superman into the ground too without a pony hand guiding him in the right direction.
Not that Affleck is the best screenwriter ever, but Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone, and The Town are decent entries on the resume. |

Well with The Town he gave himself 30 minutes of monologues so we can expect Batman to do more of that now I guess.
