On the topic of FF8:

The best way to beat Ultimecia requires only that you get Bahamut.

Because when you get Bahamut, you also get Bahamut's card.

Which refines to 100 megalixirs.

Best FF1 party would have to be black/white/red mage and fighter.

RM and Fighter will be your front loaders, mostly the latter. RM can take care of himself with some well placed ruses and an elemental or two allowing more room for your bm to have nuke and warp later.

WM is a must, wall, heal, fade, much like a cleric in D&D the sucess rate of a party largly depends on the pre-exsistance of one preist.

BM's elemental attacks will make the game a breeze and some of those miscilounouss nerf spells can be pretty good.

And the fighter is just plain obvious. Taking full advantage of his diverse weapons and armor list will make him the most self-matineance party member in the game.
