Bah. I am the foremost expert on FFT, and I say this:
Cid can't touch my character. My Best Character combos consist of the following: Monk with the following Skills set: -Punch Art -Throw -MP switch -Two Swords -Move-MP up Why: It gives me a Black Belt with a double attack, and MP switch makes it so that any attack that hits me will automaticly be dealt to MP, so long as I have at least 1 point of it. Combine this with Move-MP up, and about the only thing that can hit you are counter attacks. That and Chakra makes for a good support ability as a monk. Wizard with: -Black Magic -White Magic -Weapon Block -Equip Sword -Move-MP up Why: Red Mage, yo. Last edited by Katana; 11-27-2003 at 08:12 PM. |

There IS a way for your main character to learn on of the assassin's skills, but it ain't easy. You need to go into a fight with him as a Squire, and see if you can get Celia or Lede to hit him with ultima. Providing he survives it, he will learn it automaticly. Good luck, though. |

Okay, I have to say, without any bs or anything, that a team of ninja-monks (monks with two swords ability) will wipe the floor with anything.
My friends and I played a game of tactics together, and the most effective character by far was a monk with two swords and squire skill. We used a mediator to boost his bravery up to 95 and his faith to 0. His equipment was mostly focused around giving him more movement. All you had to do was send him into battle. He could move half way across the field in smaller maps, and he rarely if ever missed. He could easily do 1000+ damage to any character in one attack (punch 1- 500, punch 2- 500). Magic couldn't touch him (both positive and negative), he could heal any status ailments he got, and if he ever didn't have something to hit one turn he would use that one squire ability that increases strength by one. He could restore himself with chakra, he could raise the dead, and he could hit from a distance. Goku on steroids. That is, my friends, the most effective character in Final Fantasy Tactics. A team of them is just scary. But my favorite powerful characters are as follows: Magic Knight :fighter: :bmage: This is a knight with high faith, some magic increasing equipment, and the calculate ability. It is very good, dealing decent damage, and if you have two swords he can still do very good physical damage. Can't move far, but it doesn't matter for calculate. He is very well rounded and useful character. Uber Mage :bmage: A black mage with calculate. High faith. Easily the most powerful magic character in the game. Other variants of this would be, oh, time mages and summoners with calculate (which are very versatile but not as magically powerful- you can use spells calculators can't but you have lower magic attack). Ninja Knight : :fighter: A ninja-knight is second only to a ninja-monk. It's cool 'cause they can break things, but they're really the same. Give them magic swords and they can compete with ninja-monks, but it's same in principle- give them low faith with a mediator. Big huge tanks that can take damage, heal it on their own, and shrug off poweful attacks like ultima or death. They're slower, though =( |

I knew about the ultima thing, you can do it in one other spot too. I think that FFTA is worth a look, btw, if you liked tactics, Be warned though, the law sysmte kinda takes the fun out of parts of it.

Yes, we all know Thunder Jew Cid is the strongest evar.
But the real people know it doesnt matter, because any amount of Levelling Up/Down makes anyone the best.

The strongest character available in normal gameplay is, without a doubt, a Wizard with Math Skill. There is no contest.
The strongest team is any Quickening team, also no contest. The strongest character with level up/down...is debateable, barring the 99 MA 50 Speed Math Skiller. Here's what I think (obviously level up/down to 999 HP/MP, 99 PA/MA, 50 Speed): Agrias Brave 97, Faith 3 Holy Knight Holy Sword Talk Skill MP Switch Attack Up Move-MP Up Chaos Blade Escutcheon II Ribbon Robe of Lords Setiemson Reasons: First off, any and all generics are obsolete, thanks to their lack of special skillsets. Second, all males are obsolete, thanks to their lack of perfumes/ribbons. At 999 HP, there's no point in equipping anything other then a Ribbon, which prevents all status effects. Next, there's also no point in equipping any clothes that provide a stat boost/HP boost, because your stats are already maxed out. Thus, the Robe of Lords and its auto Protect and Shell is the armor of choice (of course, it is anyway). Next, the Setiemson provides auto Haste and adds Transparent. Finally, the Chaos Blade and the Escutcheon II are the most powerful sword and shield, respectively. In the incredibly unlikely case that somebody hits her through the shield evade AND MP Switch, regen gains it back right quick. Now for the abilities. Holy Sword is a default. I know Talk Skill may not be the most obvious choice; however, the benefits it gives are undeniable. Non faith based brave/faith alteration - this gives her the edge in any duel because she can lower the target's brave at will, with 100% accuracy, thereby reducing the danger of reactions. Furthermore, Mimic Daravon severely owns any opponent who doesn't protect against sleep. Finally, anybody who tries to prevent it with Finger Guard gets blasted by Holy Sword. MP Switch + Move-MP Up are defaults with the incredible amounts of MP she has. Attack Up boosts swordskill damage to ridiculous levels. |
