GREEN GOBLIN's kid, named himself the GREEN GOBLIN in fact the grandson also became the GREEN GOBLIN - it's all in the comics, crazy world, eh? Opps - seems like this was already said, sorry about that... but it's interresting to see how the animated version of spider man has altered some story line, confussing us - darn them! Really, if you think about it, Harry is more of a foil for Pete then Eddie is. Venom and Spidey ave the same powers, big deal. Similarities: Harry and Pete both want to impress their Fathers. Pete's is dead, as his his surrogate father, Ben. He wants both of them to approve of him. Harry's father never loved him too much, and he just wants to be noticed. This motivates both of their actions. They both love MJ, there's a big one. They're y'know... best friends. Both keep up two identities, which isn't something you see too often in villains, their egos are too big to not take credit for their nasty villainness. Contrasts: Harry is almost always doing well for himself while Pete is struggling, and vice versa. Harry wants revenge for his father, Pete has it and feels guilty, regardless. Harry's a villain and Pete's a hero, depending on how you look at it. Basically, my point is: I still like my plotline better.

Hell they did it in the first movie and the only reason Kirsten Dunst didn't get mad was because it was a split-second nipplejutting scene that everyone in the fucking globe caught. If it was through that whole makeout -upside-down scene she wouldn't have let it get much further. And for the record, Kirsten Dunst MUST HAVE RED HAIR. Not this Mara Jade-orange crap.

What I would do if I were writing Spiderman 3:
1. Start off the movie with Spidey saving John Jameson, much like he did in the comics. That is, Spidey somehow going all into the sky, and saving John's space capsule. Unfortunetely, Spidey doesn't stop it completely, and there's a rather semi-crash landing, in which Spidey awakes to find his new costume. 2. Next, begin the Brock-Parker rivalry. I never saw the first, but moviegoers may have forgotten about him if he was in the first one. Spiderman always messes up his life, while Pete begins taking Brock's assignments and such. 3. THE LIZARD! Spidey goes to change into red&blue, only to find black&white. Dons it anyway, and defeats Lizard and chages Connors back. Truthfully, this isn't neccessary, and I think that it would be better served as a fast start to Spiderman 4, gaining the audience's interest with action and all early on. In fact, yeah, nix this whole Lizard thing, wait til the fourth one. 4. Yay! Petey and MJ are getting married! But what's this? Pete begins acting strangely, specifically, vicious temper, beating bad guys up more than he normally would (Like Mash said, he doesn't WANT to really hurt people, that's not him. He isn't the Punisher, he just leaves muggers on the police doorstep. There's an evil side to all of us, though, and that's what the symbiote does), possessiveness, anything else that Venom-Brock would do. Essentially, bring all of Pete's worst fears and worst side out. Still, they go through with getting marrried. On their wedding day, it goes smoothly, until... 5. BOOM! Goblin shows up and Harry steals MJ back. Give him a nice scheme, though; something like 'you can only save her by exposing yourself', Catch-22 deal. Spidey gives chase, and beats Osbourne to a pulp. In fact, he almost kills him, but either his own conscience or MJ stops him. Realizes its the costume, maybe have an 'evil' Peter voiceover, much as Harry would have his father's voice superimposed over his own thoughts. 6. Brock goes to photograph the fight, but his camera is either broken or otherwise unable to capture what goes on. When Peter 'casts out' the symbiote, it bonds with Brock, but he doesn't quite realize what it is, and lacks the shared memories (knowledge of Spiderman=Peter) and powers. Afterwards, JJJ fires and ridicules him. His apartment is foreclosed(or whatever), girlfriend leaves, etc. All because of who? SPIDERMAN! The movie ends with Venom realized, maybe have Brock going psycho and a viscous black tar covering his body, and the camera pulls away to show his shadow, and then the familar profile of Venom's maw. Leaves a nice cliffhanger of knowing who the next major villain is, but not knowing what he can do or what he is up to, scheme-wise. Character wise, it would focus more on how Spidey isn't just some Punisher-esque vigilante, but a true defender of justice. Spiderman is Lawful Good, after all. Tack on a nice 'battle between good & evil' subplot with the whole Pete Vs Symbiote struggle. Spiderman 4: 1. The Lizard story line. Good way to gain the audience's interest nice and early. Show Venom-Brock scheming and justifing his actions. Particular, his whole 'saving the innocent' shtick. Maybe Venom takes out some muggers, seriously injures them, everyone blames Spidey. 2. Now, what could we possibly add onto the Parker side of the story? Hell, I know! Pete's parents come back! Comic buffs would remember this whole deal, with them being imprisoned in a gulag for twenty years or so. 3. Venom finds out, and must protect the 'innocent' Parkers from the 'evil' Spiderman. So, instead of Mj being the one in trouble, its his parents! 4. The rest of the movie plays out much like in the comic. (Yes, Venom actually DID kidnap Pete's parents when they returned) 5. As a final kick in the pants, maybe expose the truth about Pete's parents. Nice, tragic ending. |

Pah! I've had enough of 'lets re-write the animated series and make it my own idea for a story line' OR ' i'll just pull out some good ol comic groove'
How about Spider man is rather taken with London culture and re-names himself Arachnid-Bloke and in fact moves to London and has to thwart villans such as The Chimney Sweeper' and Phil Michel? Last edited by Yunni; 02-03-2005 at 10:59 PM. |

Mine was somewhat original!
And I already made a post to the point that everyone is rehashing the animated series, which is a horrible reresentation of Spidey mythos. I know the original storyline as told in the comics, and a couple of the re-writes. None of them would work in a movie and all are overdone... I don't really think there should be any Spiderman after three. The first one told the basic Responsibility-Power deal. The second was fluff which should be plunged to the darkest abyss where it can live with most DC comics. Any more should be very thematic, centering around the deep issues brought up by Superhero comics. I like the dichotomy between Spidey and Gobli and the confusion brought on by their respective dual identities and the lesson it teaches in being true to yourself... Remember that not every villain furthers a two hour storyline, I hope to God that these movies aren't being made just to sell merchandise. Somewhere in there, amidst all the capitalist greed is a thirst to tell a tale, and including every villain and insignificant character does not help that. That's why: No black cat. No Lizard. Definitely no Rhino. I realy only want to include Venom because of the issues brought on by the black suit. Once BRock gets all black and muscley, the story really loses its depth.

Either way, Brock is also a good foil for Peter. They both worked for the newspaper, same powers except Venom has more in some cases. Brock is also divorced, and is jealous of Peter's happiness with Mary Jane. Brock also was disowned by his father, which means Peter could easily have become him if he hadn't the positive role model of Uncle Ben in his life. He also plays the part of the vigilante hero on occasion. I never said Harry wasn't a foil. If you think about it, most villains are foils for the hero. Except that Harry and Peter are very similar... Brock and Peter are total opposites in most ways.

My point was, Brock's character isn't all too deep, unlike harry's. And you said Quote:
If you went with the Brock from Ultimate Spiderman, the scientist one whose father worked with Harry's father, then he'd be a foil, but then old-book fans would scream "Mangle!"

meh, most of you guys talk about being true fans of the comics and the series, how many of you actually read the comics on a regular basis, along with watching the multiple animated series. I can say none of you more then me, I have EVERY spiderman comic from 85-2002, and plenty other outside, and I have read every single one of them. most of your arguements about what would make the movie good or bad I have to completely disagree with.
