I always figured they should have had her shoot one of her selves in the painting instead of actually shooting herself. Same effect, but I think it would have made for a better scene.
Edit: Spoilered, since people will probably hit this page before they get the actual post.

But then there's the whole suspense part. "She's going to shoot her sister... but she's her sister... is she really going to shoot herself?" Shooting the picture is just symbolism, which works I guess but I like the straightforward aproach.
For some reason I totally didn't expect that whole schizophrenia thing to happen, and found it awesome. Also, that you don't show the dialouge box in the pictures seems... professional looking? I like it, whatever it is. |

I kinda knew...
It was obvious. Two sisters, EXACT opposites? Too easy to read. I just didn't want to spoil it if it was different. |

I still don't know what the hell really happened with Tourette. I mean, Therese's story sounds like obvious bullshit but Jeanette's the practiced liar and does it through her teeth almost the entire game.
And if it really happened like Jeanette said, wouldn't Therese have had Jeanette kill her father instead of coming up with something like "He was so sad he died" because part of the reason Jeanette exists at all is to take the blame for everything and I mean that part sounds more like two actual seperate sisters living together and then there's the whole people trying to seperate them and Therese embracing Jeanette and I just don't know. Edit: And Helen has revealed her weakness of not being able to keep her head in totally absurd, surreal and potentially dangerous situations. Let's hope we don't have any more of those!

Jeanette's daddy molested her. Jeanette killed her daddy. Jeanette created Therese, who took on all the negative parts of her life. Therese was the one who slept with their father. Therese was the one who killed their father. Therese is the one who dealt with all the responsibility and all the problems that Jeanette didn't want to or couldn't.
That's my standing theory, anyway.

Hmm. If Jeanette was going to retcon her past, she'd definitely have her father sleeping with Therese instead of her so that she doesn't have to deal with it. But since Therese is supposed to be the one capable of dealing with her problems, she couldn't be sleeping with him against her will because then Jeanette's knight in shining armor isn't any better than she is.
If Jeanette had already killed her father in a giant fit of "Burn, Fucker." then there'd have to be a reason for Therese to kill their father. And it'd have to be Therese because that falls under responsibility and problem solving. If she caught her father "cheating" on her with Jeanette, then she's following internal consistency by killing him. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The "separate us" could be from her being in counseling/therapy after the incident with embracing vampirism being an opportunity to escape. I guess my main problem was assuming Therese was the original personality. Edit: Therese probably came up with her version of events because it'd be dumping all the blame on Jeanette, which I think is one of the reasons Jeanette was there.

There's another option, wherein Therese IS the original personality, but Jeanette was a real person--that the story played out just as said. Except Jeanette didn't survive the embrace, or Therese never reunited with her after they tried to seperate them.
However, being Malkavian, Therese's insanity manifested by recreating her sister, whom she was, at one point, very close to.

So the negative aspects basically JUST took over...
But that doesn't explain the picture. I was under the impression that her sister lived, possibly her daddy killed her somehow but she blocked it out. Then, with the change she reformed that personality and never knew it. Last edited by Jagos; 09-17-2008 at 10:56 PM. |

The picture most likely was painted by commission from her after her embrace and whatever happened had already happened.
I seriously doubt anyone who wasn't Malkavian would keep a deformed monster like that around the house.
