Excellent work all around! Khael, I really like your wolves. Kinda jealous, actually. I can never get the front view of the heads right. Or anything about them, for that matter. :p Nicely done to all.
And now, if I may contribute a piece: 'Tis a recent work inspired by my ravenous desire to draw something cool. :p So I whipped this up. I thought the rune would be kinda neat too, so it's in there. It's a good day.

Yar, the sketches thread seems to not be as active as it used to be. =( Or maybe it is, I just feel lack of artistry since I haven't drawn much lately.
Khael- I agree, I like your wolves. I especially like the one in the top right of the second picture(with the long, thin muzzle) It has a nifty style to it. Flare- Sketching when you're bored is one of lifes greatest pleasures. Zoran- Pretty good! Maybe darken/thicken the lines, so that it stands out more. Good job. Skit- That is really fantastic. I love the whole idea and the way you did it too. Great design. TopHat- Really cool. I really like the right arm and hand for some reason. ^^ And the rune is cool ^^

I don't think I've ever seen the grim reaper portrayed so beautifully. Usually it's all about the ugly and the deathful, but you had to go and add a degree of elegance I wasn't expecting. I want to colour it someday.
Tell me what colours should go in there else I'm thinking an infinitely royal blue in there somewhere. For the sake of sad, sad honesty Skit, you're getting away with her legs being that skinny. Chainmail must've taken a while... I'm liking what you did for colouring the halberds. That sketchy shading gives it that recentlly-sharpened look I've been aiming for myself. Oh yeah TopHat man? I'm jeaulous of your comic-book clean edged style. I want to do cool stuff with that kind of intentional simplicity. I want too many knives already - and now this! :gonk: If I ever get what I want ther'll be no room in my house for all the swords and shinies. Do you ever use references when you're drawing stuff? I guess I don't technically... I just spend so much time studying the details on whatevers around me that when it comes time to draw it I've got a good mental picture. I also watch shitloads of animal planet and pore over the pic's in my D&D monster manual. It helps being a geek .

Woo! I finally did some more fanart, and this time it is Aang: from Avatar The Last Airbender, but before I go farther, I need opinions.
He's going to be using all elements, so I was thinking of either making the earth rise up behind him in the background, OR moving the picture up on the picture plane and having the earth coming forward towards the "camera" Any suggestions?

lol i dont even know

Edit: That's better. I think the earthbending would look better in the foreground. Cannot wait to see the finished product, though.

Yes.
Keep the camera angle you've got though, having the earth flying towards the viewer will look really cool with us that close to the ground.

Probably too late, but I think Aang doing his earthbending thang would look better in the background. Both places have their merits, of course. It's just that the background looks a bit empty, to me. My high school art teacher hounded me about negative space once, so that's kinda where I'm getting it. :p Nice job though, the angle is definitely awesome.

Finished some of the lineart:
Thanks for the suggestions. Does that look okay? (I haaate drawing earth) I may add some earth in the background too, as to TopHat's suggestion. As well as maybe something that looks... fire-nation-y. Now I just have to figure out how to draw air. I was thinking about maybe not using lineart for the air. Maybe that would work better. I may add more rocks or bigger fire or something... to make it more dramatic.

I echo Tophat's feelings to having some earth in the background, like a rocky mountain-esque chunky thing or something. It would probably make a good backdrop.
