Ooh! It looks like chalk pastels! Or sand... neat texture. Great use of chiaroscuro too - what a hard word to type. Why couldn't they just call it using strong lighting and no outlines?
Here's what I was up to yesterday. I said I wanted to make a robot costume one day, and some forumer-bum on another board told me "Two words: cardboard and spray paint." A-durr. This was my response: Quote:
Why yes, it is a big plush D20. It was also my Christmas present from my roleplay group's rogue. Quote:
That really does sound like something I'd say. Right up there with "DAMN, it was EARTH ALL ALONG!!" The original word bubble read "Fucking Rogers!" I'm just an exclamatory kind of guy.

That would make an uber-awesome costume (especially if that back dealie is a jetpack and it actually worked). So much terror could be struck into the hearts of civilians, seeing such a construct of metal and power racing through the streets.
This my latest piece, I drew it up this afternoon whilst trying to make something else. :p Nightmare of Soul Calibur, done completely from memory.

I was going to say "Hey! I know that guy!"
Doin' stuff from memory's always a real payoff when people recognize it, eh? Always made me feel like a million bucks when I managed to do something like that. Hehe, Soulcalibur. So many a night rendered wasted to that precious game. Especially because it was wasted on a 53 match losing streak. XP

Whoa. If you have the crafting chops to make that costume a reality, I'll be doubly impressed. Was that colored on the computer? I've never gotten the hang of using programs to color things. It's shiny...
Last night resulted in me drawing a picture that fairly accurately reflects the actual quality of costumes we can do here. I don't think I've ever woken up thinking, "Today I'll draw a man with a salad bowl on his head," but you never know what the day will bring. Incidentally, in reference to character birthdays / creation dates, there was a major one on Thursday, but I've been too busy being eaten alive by school. Sorry, guy. We'll have to celebrate when I'm more able. Like, after I'm dead. I like the FMA, but I keep almost seeing it move for some reason. I don't know why. By the way, have you decided what you're putting at the bottom of the self-portrait? |

I use the included sketching program called Alias Sketchbook Pro (V 1.1) to do the drawing, save it as a jpeg and shoot it over to GIMP for colouring.

Ah, GIMP. I have a better relationship with Paint than I do with GIMP, I think because I expect Paint to be Paint, whereas I want GIMP to be Photoshop. Sigh... Photoshop, I miss you so much.

At least that's my idea. I haven't gotten to work on it much lately because of finals and many other art projects at the same time. (and being preoccupied with wanting to draw what I want to draw (and going to marching band state finals ^^) Khael- I will echo what the others have said in that it is a pretty flippin' sweet design, I like the coloring as well. TopHat- Heh I love the stuff that comes out when you're trying to draw something else. ^^ I love his facial expression. Also, Photoshop is amazing. *huggles my photoshop*. I never got used to GIMP

Photoshop is magical. I've never quite adjusted to GIMP either, although on the rare occasions I find myself with access to Photoshop, I now sort of have to reorient.
That's lovely imagery, there; it would be interesting to see when you can get around to it. Two things came out of the weekend, both in color to make more sense of what I was trying to illustrate. The first is Puppy Puppy Blue Nose, which I drew for someone because, apparently, the name wasn't descriptive enough. I haven't drawn Puppy since I was 9 or 10, so she's been updated quite a bit to make her features a lot clearer. Assuming 10 and younger doesn't count, this is the only time I've ever drawn an anthropomorph. This was a weekend of surprises. I also ended up drawing this picture of me being accosted by Don Quixote de la Mancha. I think the breast plate was procured from the theater department; I have no idea where he got the wooden dagger. (Yes, he's wearing a t-shirt under the breast plate. The good thing is that being Don Quixote allows a lot of room for looking ridiculous, but amount of bad artwork can convey the extent.) Me: ...is that a salad bowl? Him: Well, come on, who owns a shaving basin anymore? Me: On that note, what the hell is eating your chin? A Brillo pad? Him: S.O.S. pad. Me: Can't you grow a beard? Him: Sure... just not, like, overnight. Last edited by katiuska; 10-22-2007 at 05:41 AM. |

Wait, you do draw this stuff on the computer, right Visi? How do you get the lines so straight??
