On Sluggy: What if Riff pulled the old Crono clone? Alternate Riff's got time travelling teleports. What if he swapped vegetable Zoe with past Zoe right before the fire hit and the emergency DFA went off? The only real opportunity for paradox would be with the cursed necklace, and that could probably be replaced with a convincing fake. Granted, that means vegetable Zoe is living in a horrifying time loop, but she's honest-to-god basically a corpse as it is. Seems like it'd be making the best of a bad situation to me.

What Riff did was either infect her with the healing nanites, probably set to load the snapshot of her at that moment in time in... say... a few hours from the 'present' or he made a biochip of her right then and there and is planning to load her with it.

I'm guessing the first, seeing it's already been established they spread by touch.

Well, that's the thing about time loops: By their very nature, their focal point is going to come from nowhere because its existence keeps looping from the previous iteration. As long as the loop isn't broken, there's no explanation necessary, and if the loop is broken, then it was the real Zoe all along.

Edit: But yeah, I figure your explanation is entirely likely to be what happens. I wasn't suggesting Riff would actually do any of this - the comic just made me think of it.

Erfworld is just starting to burst with references, though I find it a nice touch that Alyx Vance and Empress Sanaki were thrown in.

And nobody on Captain Snes wants to go through with simply thought-out plans anymore, it must clearly be out of fashion.

These recent Girl Genius updates are beginning to worry me. This antagonist really did seem to just apperate and I'm hoping he is squished just as quickly right when he seems unstoppable.
