A raw sketch done completely on the computer using a tablet.
I haven't drawn in so long, I was almost afraid I'd forgotten how. XD [imghide]http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/4837/oldelfwc1.png[/imghide] I DO intend to finish it, maybe even colour it too. But mostly it's just a counter to Skweebs abominations. (Meant in a good way. I LOVE his gruff and mean characters, but we need some good looking and mean characters too!) EDIT: I can see now it needs some touch-ups here and there, but that's for later.

ZJ - Very nice. I love the shiny look of his armor. The armor looks great, although his arms are kind of floating away from his body. Looks nice though!
Melfice - Very nice, I love how you did the lips, I always have a hard time trying to figure out how to do good non-anime lips. I'll have to learn from yours. EDIT (I was posting when TDK was posting) - It looks nice, although a little too light to be able to see the details (although that might be the scanners fault or something) Quote:
And hearing "stupid good coloring skills" makes my happy after having to constantly remix and waste my paints in my design class because I can never get the colors right, so it made my day. =D Also, for the record, because I felt like it might have sounded like I snapped or something when you critiqued my picture. I wasn't just arguing with your critique to argue or because I think I know better or something, I just have to be able to see what is wrong with the picture to be able to fix it or not do it wrong again, so I usually will ask someone to clarify or try and explain it to me again until I can see where the critiquer is coming from. (I do it to my art teachers too, after a big critique I usually go up to them and ask what was wrong with it if I don't see what they thought was wrong with it) So yeah, this is just sort of an apology if I ever come off as sounding like I don't appreciate a critique of my pictures or like I'm trying to defend why "nuh uh, you're wrong and I'm right". Constructive criticism is awesome =D Don't be afraid to critique if something looks kind of weird or a little off. I want to get better and the only way to do that is to be able to see where I did something wrong.

It's titled "Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy". That's where I learned to draw mouths like that. (With some very minor style-editing, if you know what I mean.)

Art related mini rant...Bear with me.
Why is it that whenever I show someone a picture in real life, they, at best, say it is "pretty good" even when they are not (And they almost always aren't)an artist and can't draw for shit? It pisses me the fuck off. Even online, my art is scarcely complimented (Which is why I post it here. I get good criticism and compliments.) Last edited by TDK; 04-28-2008 at 03:27 PM. |

People call your art "pretty good" because they don't know how to draw. Or not as well. They're impressed.
OR, which is always an option, they DON'T like what you've drawn and say it's pretty good so they don't hurt your feelings. Personally, I think you've got a way to go still, but you're working on getting there. It's far from perfect though. And I now humbly suggest I suck, because I must turn to bed and sleep without critiqueing your work and giving tips, for I have work tomorrow. Ta-tah!

My main theory is that it is because of personal dislike or they are just thinking "Why are you showing ME?" or something. I have seen someone say a picture by someone else was "awesome" and then shown them a picture of mine own, which was much, much better, and had it described as "pretty cool".
...I get upset over slight differences in grammar and stuff that imply certain things, even though I'm always wrong about what is being implied. Meh, this isn't the place to talk about this, nevermind... |

I leave with this quote:
"You're your own worst critic, but you're also the one so close to your work that you can't see the whole image."

Melfice: I must say, I'm lovin' the face. Seriously. What mainly sticks out to me is the nose and chin. Although his Adam's apple seems kind weird looking to me. TDK: Looks good (Now that I can see it better), although the eyes are what bother me. Not sure if it's intended or not, but the eyes seems way too close together. One thing you could take note, is that the distance between the eyes on the face is generally the same width of the eye. Like so: Again, I'm not sure if this was intended or not but I think it was worth mentioning. EDIT: I'd also like to mention the hair. It looks like it was just on the front of the person's face. It's recommend make it look more flow-y and also, since you added that much detail to the front part of the hair, add just as much detail from what can be seen from behind the head.
