It has to be Hero VS Villain, remember?

Delita would be a much better fit than Ultima, but he would play too similarly to Ramza for that to work.

No he wasn't. Algus was for a while, and then we killed that little fuck. Then the Church was for the rest of the story. Delita was a friend all the way through to the end, even if he took time being a shitty friend near the middle of the game. He was always there to lend Ramza a hand, or give him a "friendly" warning/veiled threat. All in all Delita just wanted to change the world for the better......his view of better, but better none the less. Of all the side characters in Tactics I found I could sympathize with him the most. He went from being the lowly peasant to ruler of the realm. He paved the way for Princess Olivia to rule a new, united country.

He was almost "hero of the people," just a little tarnished because his means were never as important to him as the end.

Jesus, fine, he was the Anti-Hero. Still not the hero. I mean the opening of the first 20 seconds of the game is "Everyone thinks Delita is the true hero of those troubled times, but nope, totally this guy!"
