Just played the demo today. It's looking pretty good so far. Noticed a little bit of stuttering in the cutscenes in the first half, hoping that's just due to demo quality. Didn't know Mordins VA was different and didn't notice. Stupidly forgot to upgrade my characters at the start of the 2nd mission so played the entire thing without any upgrades. Surprisingly wasn't that hard.
Multiplayer is pretty great, and I normally dislike endless horde modes. Vanguard remains my favourite class by miles. Not only is it handy for getting around the level/beating teammates to objectives it's also insanly effective with the shotgun and Nova. I find myself actively seeking out the harder enemies just because I seem to be more effective at taking them out than others.

Ok, now I remember why I dislike horde mode multiplayer games, they suck arse. It seems no matter how many games I play now, with any other full teams, we never get past round 6. And no matter where I put my skill points, I don't seem to be getting any more powerful. In fact it seems to be getting harder.
I finally had what seemed to be a decent game going, and then I fell through the void and couldn't do anything and had to quit, forfeiting all my points. The game before, I accidentally pressed the wrong power button, got killed early and had to quit because there's no fucking way to be revived and like hell I was going to see there watching everyone else carry on. And the game before that, random death. Full shields, no powerful enemies around to break shields and kill me instantly, just instant death, game over. So yeah, it was fun for about a day, but I think I've had enough now.

Not bad.

Really? I've been pretty aces at it. Check the difficulty you are playing it under. There is Bronze, Silver and Gold. It is randomized by default. Vanguards are total powerhouses. Two teammates abandoned me and another vanguard. I played a Drell Vanguard cause those cluster grenades are pretty handy. Finished it no problem.

Sounds like there's too much multiplayer.

Might have to get used to it.
One of the things we learned from that leak a bit back is something along the lines of "galactic readiness". It is basically a score to see how prepared the galaxy is for the Reapers, and is apparently how you get the best ending. You increase it by playing single player of course, but from what I understand, doing it single player only is ether extremely time consuming or flat-out imposable. Therefore you need to play mutiplayer or an iOS/facebook game that is coming out to increase it to a decent rate. Now this could be all Bull, but we KNOW the readiness mechanic is a thing because of the iOS game's press release as well as EA talking about their online pass giving you access to this, but the specifics are not 100% yet and I am gonna give EA/Bioware the benefit of the doubt on this one. If it is true, it means EA has literately worked their war on used games into the game design itself ( Whats that? Want a good ending? Well pay up the 10 dollars so you can farm points in mutiplayer!) EDIT:Also this, which is....interesting. Last edited by Ramary; 02-17-2012 at 10:47 PM. |

So we are clear

penny-arcade has some info about it straight from one of the designers. You can get the best ending with strictly single player if you do most of the extra stuff, or you can just do the core missions and tons of multiplayer, or abit of both

Fuck Bioware. Even if the game ends up being good, Bioware has lost my respect.

Ok, I don't get it. No, seriously, I don't. So they hired a VA with a medium African accent and gave it some shitty vocal vibration effect.
It is a rather odd choice, to be sure, but it isn't some super-stupid Jar-Jar type shit, this is a real accent that you can hear people speak in and there is nothing wrong with that. I think the comments about it are worse. Including the two posts above mine. -_- fakeedit: "no one complains about Tali sounding russian, or Kal'Reegar sounding Texan. But Protheans sound African, and the internet does a thortableflip.gif" actually sums up what I think of this whole thing better than the rant I was writing.
