I couldn't agree more. As an aircraft engineer I see it all the time and it really pisses me off (and the wife 'cos she get to listen to me rant about the movie she's trying to watch).

Charlies Angels (again) where one of them opens a panel and disconnects a plug to completely disable the aircraft! What happened to the back-up systems? I mostly work on old aircraft, but I know that military fly-by-wire normally has at least three duplicated control runs through different parts of the aircraft in case of small arms fire. And it is all irrelevant because I don't think those helicopters use fly-by-wire anyway!

Books can be equally awful too. I remember reading "The Terminal Man" by Michael Creighton. It was about a guy with some sort of neurological problem that caused violent episodes. It was all very plausible and there was about 3 pages of references to various medical journals and research papers. Despite all of this, he got the number of engines on a DC-10 wrong!
Would it have killed him to go down the library and scan a copy of Janes or something similar?

Two examples, but the list is endless (don't even get me started on Blue thunder or Airwolf).

Life, generally a pretty good show, though this one looks like it'll be bad. Stupid Pacman Fever. Bearable if it's background, just plain horrible if it becomes the centrepoint of a plot like this seems to be doing.
