But you're talking more hand-held... hmmm... anything that doesn't use an accelerator or combustable material would have to have a huge lens, a big powersource and a lot of funding... doesn't sound viable at this time.
I'll think about it and see what I can do. We can make staff-chucks like in the xmas 8bt thing that BM used though.

First of all, you're a crazy bastard.

Second, I'd like to see what would happen if you took some sparklers, stripped the incendiary powder off of them, wrapped them in tin foil, and strapped them to the blades as they were set ablaze. Then swing them around yourself in a wide circular motion. It would be like Link's spin attack.

Even beyond that, if you swung hard enough some of the powder might come off in an arch, like a level 3 Master Sword in LoZ:LttP.

Protective eyegear is highly recommended.

Actually Bob, it's even easier than that. The fire community started using this stuff back in the early 2000's, and now the common name for it is firewire... basically you just set steel wool on fire and spin it fast and it becomes like a controllable firework.

OK, so update... no high quality video camera yet, my contacts are busy with Olympic stuff since that's pretty much the city buzz ATM.

I've hooked up with a con organizer (Anime Evolution) and we are arranging for me to teach swordchuck/firedancing workshops during the convention (in battle-ready fighter armor), should be cool =]

Trick Concepts would be the best venue for this sort of thing, I'm not really in it for money.

I've offered a raffle for a pair, but generally it's all about getting the kevlar for cheap, I can get my artist is make detailed blueprints if you guys are ambitious enough to build your own =]

Well, that really depends if Brian supports the project in the first place.
I think I should get a video up since you guys are missing like 95% of what it actually looks like, and still will miss a whole bunch unless I film in HQ with a good camera so that's kinda what this whole thing is hinging on ATM.

The Olympics start next week and end soon after, the craziness will fizzle out at the end of the month so expect videos after that =]
