I think I may have missed explaining something...Well, apparently I did, anywho.

I meant this: Of most of the kids I knew that got scholarships given to only particular races, most of the kids (I can't give you an actual number, but it was more than half) ended up failing out of college, or not taking it at all seriously.

That, to me, is undeserving of going. That's what I meant by undeserving, really.

Tobias: That's interesting, but of course you have to imagine that when a scholarship is race-based, as stupid as that might be, they still base who's getting it on their grades. Which makes it even more interested (and odder) that all those would end up dropping out.

Oops, mis-communication. Lockeownzj00, by my reply I wasn't inferring that I am wary of 'you'. I didn't mean to imply that *you* believe that racism = discrimination against blacks, etc. I was just putting that thought out there. Wasn't directed at anyone personally, and certainly not you.

That may not have anything to do with intelligence, or lack of drive. I don't know any of those people, but it's sort-of well known that if you don't establish a lot of connections to campus life and procure good study/work habits, you'll fail in college. Some very smart, normally dedicated people can become isolated at a university and they subconsciously fail all of their classes so that they can be kicked out.

People who come from poor educational systems might not be adequately prepared for college, and if they don't link up with someone experienced soon it can hurt them. Some of the people you're talking about might have had this happen to them. In the end, they have no one to blame but themselves, still, this is the reason for that scenario. It [college] is a social vortex and if you learn how to ride it you're gonna get cut to shreds. But they weren't undeserving to begin with. You can never predict how a person will perform, I think. I'd like to think...

You've got it down to a tee there, adamark.

All I'm really saying is that if one race has scholarships for just that race (even when based on scholastic merit), that all races should get the same. That's all, really.
