I don't think Cha will be as important to a Captain as Int. The Captain needs to know the situation and make a decision; Talking to people can be someone else's job.
EDIT: Wizardcat has the highest INT, but no Knowledge ranks and he hasn't given us a name or description yet so I'm not sure he's the best choice. Cabal has the second highest and good knowledge of Star Charts, so I nominate him for Captain. Last edited by Dauntasa; 12-31-2009 at 09:19 PM. |

That is the Captain's job though, its the Captains job to inspire hope, to be the face of the crew, to lead and encourage.

I mean talking to people outside the crew. Ideally a Captain would be both Intelligent and Charismatic, but that would mean that he'd have to dump a combat critical stat and a Captain who can't fight wouldn't be very good at all.

I am already the pilot though, I can't be captain.

I admit the Miraluka Janissary isn't exactly the best choice for a captain after all, but *shrug*.
Can anyone else talk? Granted, I only have converse at 1. Honestly, I don't mind either way. (Does mean I'm not untrained in negotiation, though. And imagine how much fun playing the blind human trick would be.)

Again, the Captain won't need to talk to people outside the crew so much. He can get someone else to do that. But he needs to know when it's time to talk, and who we should talk to, and when it's time to fight, and who we should be fighting. The Captain makes the decisions, and the quality of the decisions is the most important thing.
EDIT: Question for Krylo: Say I'm in a fight and holding a Rifle. An enemy gets into melee range with me, and I decide to hit him in the face with my Rifle. Which Weapon Skill covers that? Last edited by Dauntasa; 12-31-2009 at 09:40 PM. |

The less responsibility the better!
Star Trek says he needs brawl though, because the fight with the rubber-headed alien isn't over until Kirk gets his shirt ripped.

...I have a horrible idea. Can I make a droid and have it be the captain? I would totally focus on conversations and the like, being totally independent.
