I can't really do a face like that if Kit is still in her anime-style look..

EDIT: After looking through my DA gallery, as well as HIKYM, I'm really not sure what it is I'm changing about the way I do things... That's kind of annoying, really. I thought I've been exploring a whole new way of doing stuff, but I just seem to be slightly modifying what I've already done

The strong lining of the lips in the non-anime look kind of bugs me. It gives a sort of fishmouthed look.

Which is, I guess, why so many animaters draw female characters with lipstick. Because accentuating the mouth with lines without making it stand out too much is hard.
I guess you've already experimented with both shorter and weaker lines?

That latest version looks much better. It's not a huge shift, but it doesn't have to be.

I like the current style better, but it could just be because it is what I am used to. But the art is part of what pulled me in, and the revision just isn't grabbing me. Small as my vote is, I prefer the status quo on this, Kit especially works really well as she is and the revisions just don't seem as... Nice, I guess.

Changes have already been made. So there's not really a vote on it. The status quo is just gonna have to be pissed off I guess :P

I prefer the new way muuuuch more, and so does Brian. So I'm sticking with it.

Personally, I think Liz looks great (I will miss the whole cigarette/no mouth thing Liz had going though. That was pretty neat.) and while I ain't too hot on the porno lips that Kit is sporting in your examples I don't think it will distract too much.

This style is actually harder. It feels easier, but I think that's because I have more fun doing it.

Still, I think it looks better, and it's more suitable for me and the comic, so I'm sticking with it regardless.

I'm curious how that style works on the actual pages. Still not sold on Kit's lips, though, that's the only thing I don't like. My main issue is, that they raise the question how Kit could afford plastic surgery.

At the very least I can say your style is quite unique. The more manga inspired as well as the new direction aren't generic at all.

Kit can have large lips w/o resorting to plastic surgery, can't she? (she has pretty big boobs too, come to think of it -- something I'm also altering with the new style).. I don't know what kind of facial characteristics people thought a "real life" Kit would have, but I had my own ideas for her.

AND...for the purposes of "Behind the Scenes" info I will talk about it (since that's what this thread is supposed to be about). Long Winded Information

That above info was just me blabbering on about the process like I love doing. It's probably not all that important (which is why I put it in swap tags).

Plus, in my opinion, larger lips indicate a more youthful face and they work better on Kit. I dunno if that's an actual artistic thing or just a personal opinion tho.

Eh, I never gave a thought to Kit's ethnicity, though, seeing as I live in a country populated by the aryan master race the most natural assumption to make would be that she's white. The only race I know that is stereotypically known are black people and even then I never really met one with big lips. I'm not really aware of anything else and Kit doesn't make a very black impression on me. If you're saying bigger lips are a feature half-demondevilthings (whatever Kit will turn out to be) then it'll probably be easier for me to accept that they look so very very big.

Still, it's not like I want to make a big deal out of Kit's lips, it's just the one detail that seems kinda off in my eyes, and telling you to draw your own comic differently isn't something I'd want to do. Especially after you've already heard what people had to say about the subject but decided to keep it anyway. You have your reasons.

On a related subject: Man, I'm not a fan of big boobs at all, I demand that you to draw them smaller!!!

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways.
