Before I put a foot in my mouth, let's just leave the stereotypes for another day. I know those tend to leave bad tastes in people's mouths. At the time of the post, I couldn't think of anything for black people (my own ethnicity) and I'm not trying to be offensive. If it causes problems I'll change it.

I don't mind. I was just wondering. I live in Ecuador, you see, and aside from having a different concept of racial slurs and the like, I also don't know any in English, so I thought I'd ask.

I don't know about other Jews here, but I don't really mind.

67. NO! RANDOM! ENCOUNTERS! Take a page out of Chrono Trigger, Paper Mario, and Tales of Symphonia's respective books and let us see the enemies for ourselves. Failing at that, let us be able to avoid random encounters if we wish.

I did. I'm doing a continuation of it. I wouldn't mind random encounters if you could "turn it off" when you wanted to.

55. (aimed at KOTOR) please no "quasi-turn based combat. all i ever did was watch my character fight. i thought the game was supposed to be INTERACTIVE!
Way to disregard...hmm, every Black Isle game ever made, basically. T'aint nothing wrong with quasi-turn based. It's better than full turn based or random encounters for what it is.

I also agree with Nique--for a game like that, Deus Ex (original) is good; especially since you start out doing "good" for UNATCO, and you see both sides of the coin.

We desperately need a public discourse that encourages critical thinking and intellectual honesty. Nothing stands in the way of this project more than the respect we accord religious faith.

68) Always, always, ALWAYS let the player choose his own button configuration. I'm not talking "choose between three different control schemes," because that was in the Genesis days, when there were only three BUTTONS. No, I'm talking full customization. As in, if I want to freaking swing my sword with the Gamecube's Z button you'll let me. Games like Zelda with a very specific, unchangeable interface, I can understand. But for all the others? Please.

I'm going to be editing my post on the front page if at all possible or start a new thread with the rules posted for game publishers. I have noted that some of the rules seem a little... off. Therefore, those rules will A) not apply or B) not be added to this list.

Not trying to alienate anyone but I'll PM the people with rules in question. Perhaps a better rule can replace it? I'll wait and see.
I had to edit a LOT to get the major gist on the front page. However it has been edited to almost the basic rules. I noticed that a lot of the rules seemed similar so I put them together. I'll work on putting them in a coherent order at a later date. Unfortunately it won't fit on the front page so I'll post later rules (and addendum [or appendums?] later on.)

If I am unallowed to bump, I won't let this happen again. However some people I didn't PM and some I did. It's 10 at night and I'm sleepy. If you feel that I've missed you in any way I am a PM away for questions and/or answers on this.

-Edit- As I've hit the post limit on the first page, I'll be editing all other rules on the next few pages as I have time. shouldn't take more than a week. Then, if the rules are to most people's satisfaction (and coherently in order) I'll begin putting them on websites.

Not to say I won't take suggestions among other things from people. And I'm always interested in new rules.
