I suppose.
But all of this is going to be cast aside if Starscream gets his ass kicked (literally, I hope) by Megatron. The dialogue between why Megatron is beating the hell out of his own soldier would be enough to humanize the whole Transformers race.

Worst case scenario...
And gauds help me, I hope the updated website isn't really what Cybertron will look like. Speaking of the movie website, if you go to the trailers & watch the new one all the way to the end, you're treated to a slight change from the Yahoo released trailer. I won't spoil the suprise, but its nothing big, just a one-liner from Cullen (and I bet you can already guess what it is). SWB

Wow. Cybertron looks more like a light bulb got shoved into the MST3k logo.
Also: When watching the trailer, because you know you want to, look at the sound blurb of the transforming noise. It says "Takara 83" on the bottom. That's pretty sweet - little homage to Takara. EDIT: Listening to Cullen say that line a good twenty years after the first time he said it has solidified my faith in this movie. It sounds a little different, but it's still Prime. This movie is going to kick so much ass. EDIT G2: Watching the final part of the trailer - My Little Pony girl with what I assume to be Starscream or Barricade - and watching how smooth the Transformer stood up and stepped on the concrete. It's interesting, because my non-Transformer fan friends are looking at the trailer and going, "Man, that's going to be really good."

Oh, and there's a picture of a harpoon weapon that Sector 7 employs. Gosh, hope the Decepticons never saw Empire Strikes Back. Quote:

Can't comment on Barricade, because I can't remember if he's the cop car or the military chopper. If its the chopper, then the same goes as Starscream. SWB

Barricade is the cop car. I don't remember the name of the chopper, and it's way too early for me to go through Seibertron to find out.
I assume it was Barricade, because the concept art for Jazz didn't look anything like that. It probably is Ironhide, now that I think about it. This movie needs to come out sooner... About Cullen: It was just a one-liner from the trailer. I hope he doesn't sound like that in the movie, but knowing Cullen, he probably won't. I think they just walked up to him, shoved a mic in his face, and said, "We need something for the fans. Say your line."

Yeah, the Pool Transformer is Ironhide..
I've compared it to some of the other images that got released. And Cullen really didn't put anything into that line. You could hear it. If only they had chosen "Megatron, when I'm done with you, there won't be enough peices to make a Hand Gun"... |

I find it funny it's a few days before christmas, and all we want is the new year to goddamn get here because our Transformers fandom is going all crazy.
EDH-DUHT: One of the writers says a few words about character development for the TFs. I'm settled in my fears slightly, but his mention of Catwoman holds my hairs on my neck.

But he also had involvement in the Eureka screenplay. Still, I admit that from the negative reaction I've heard from people who've read the apparently leaked screenplay (or at least bits of it), I'm not totally optimistic. Still, the movie will be whatever it will be, I'm not going to get too concerned until it airs. Hey, aside from nostalgia value, the original TF movie wasn't all that great, except for the battle between Optimus & Megatron (which came way too early in the film), Optimus's death (ditto), Megatron's transformation (Unicron, Megatron demands a refund!), and the death of Starscream (& with him the last of the older characters). Yeah, the rest of the movie is just filler, I've said it & I'd say it again, so hah! (Well that, and relying on voice actors who weren't necessarily as commited to Transformers for the majority of the film, certainly didn't help.) The trailer suggests to me, at least the movie has the potential to be better than that, and if that's all it is, I'll take it. Hey, if its ID4 or Starship Troopers quality, that'll be more than enough. Edit: Prime on the cover of Empire Magazine. Hey, with glowy eyes, he looks fairly decent, even with his rad-to-the-max flame job. SWB I can't deal with that right now!

Yeah, Transformers: The Movie wasn't so hot in my book either. But that's mostly because half of the Autobots were killed by Unicron in the first ten minutes, Jazz and Bumblebee never showed up in the movie, Spike is now 35 and a father, Thundercracker and Skywarp were tossed off Astrotrain, Megatron turned into Galvatron, Optimus Prime was killed, and Ultra Magnus was introduced as the temporary "leader". All in all, it wasn't much Transformers, it was more like "Transformers: Beginning Of G2".
Which isn't to say it had it's benefits. Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime was pretty slick, and the fight with Prime/Megs was sweet too. I just wish the movie, instead of being a "Next Generation Intro", was just a really long really epic episode of Transformers. I'd even be cool with Prime dying, I just wish it wasn't in the first part of the movie. But moving on, yeah, I'm with you - if it's better than the original Transformers movie, well, that's perfectly cool with me. Hell, if it does that, we might be treated to sequels. Bay certainly implied that.
