Also, it's a bit nonhuman sympathiser like, but at least it's pragmatic.

This talk of some secret affair is nonsense.
All they're worried about in that room is the fortifications being breeched and the gate being stormed. When the frontlines are overrun, it will be the main thrust of the attack, the attacker throwing themselves once more into the breech over and over again. Penetration of the target is imperative to them. Yes, I am going on about frontal assaults a lot, but the general doesn't really strike me as the sort to consider flank charges. Anyway, I've been wondering about the fae races. According to the races info, faeries are the only creatures vulnerable to cold iron, but other info appears to indicate most fae races have at least some vulnerability. I'm also not terribly clear on which races count as fae. I went through and broke it into two categories - the races that are most likely to be pure fae races and greater vulnerability to cold iron and the lower fae, who generally are much less affected by it. I listed all races that appear in the seelie or unseelie lands and a few others that might be fae. High fae Nymph Faerie dryad neried sprite imp faerie dragon Lower fae Centaur - questionable Elf Drow Triton - questionable Bugbear - questionable Goblin - mentioned as fae Kobold - mentioned as fae Hobgoblin - it's a kind of goblin Ogre Troll Naga - questionable half-elf - half ELF Just like some clarification on this.

It's not fleeing, Aetheor, it's a tactical withdrawl into a more advantageous offensive position.
We're only falling back for one round because of the traitorous heretics that are trying to poison the might of the emperor's chosen. :p

because I am slightly adorable...
Hey, I know I'm all kinds of late, pretty much an unreliable slack ass, and filled with lies, but can I play?
here's my character. Name: Hashel Thalas, Prince of Blades Gender: Male Age: 24 Race: Half Elf Weapons: The final serenity of a blade, the blessed gift of steel. (sword, by the by) Items: Several modestly furnished apartments in and around (insert city name here) A collection of swords, large collection of clothing for various circumstances, a few trinkets of minor magical potency (one in particular, a walk-away charm ensorcelled long before his birth and fashioned into the likeness of a hawk is worn around his neck at all times, it's magic is luck, an undefined "second chance" that allows him to walk away (thus the name) from a dangerous situation. This kicks in at storyteller discretion, and if the situation is deemed too dangerous, may be be destroyed or ignored all together.) A comfortable amount of savings, several horses and the general affluence of a well to do mercenary. Stats: Melee 8 Ranged 3 Magic 0 Psionics 0 Stealth 1 Connections 3: Commanding officer of a mercenary unit known as "The Bladewind Serpents" a group of around 50 hardened veterans of numerous campaigns. Bio: Son of a noble human house, descended distantly from a great hero of the Fae Wars, Hashel was brought up in what could be considered modest affluence. Not the richest of families, but certainly not the poorest. His father was a successful business man, dealing mainly in wheat and timber and other such agricultural staples. His elven mother had died while giving birth to his sister three years after his own birth. It seemed Hashel was destined for a sedintary life, managing his father's books and keeping the household slaves in line. Such a fate did not sit well with the hot headed young man however. At the age of 16 Hashel confronted his father, a soft spoken and soft hearted man, and made clear his bloody intentions. Hashel, as the eldest son, foreswore his birthright and abdicated his inheritance to his younger sister, Indiriel. His father, fond of his son but knowing full well of his wanderlust, agreed to release Hashel from his familial obligations under one condition, that Hashel remember he was always welcome to return. And so the young man set out with a good horse and a sturdy blade, to find his fortune in violence and blood. As was customary of his heritage, Hashel had studied the martial arts in concert with the more esoteric learnings of his time. He had always excelled in swordplay, and had at the age of 15 outstripped almost all his contemporaries and young men many years his senior. He took this innate talent and made a living from it, dispensing his services to a mercenary guild and working his way through the ranks at an alarming rate. Now, seven years after leaving his home, Hashel is commander of a hand picked unit of hardened mercenaries and a recognized master of the blade. Known by the ubiquitous title "Prince of Blades" to his allies and enemies alike, Hashel seeks to further his skills and learn more of the limits a man may endure in the pursuit of martial perfection. He still keeps ties with his family, and his beloved sister still holds out some small hope of his eventual return as their father ages. He has known the pleasures of many women, but never the enduring pain of love. He lives at this moment in a sort of denial, forcing himself to believe he achieves something meaningful with each victory, but in his soul knowing only the ache of questions perhaps best left unasked. Description: Hashel is lean and taught, appearing at all times ready for intense action. His hair is dark black and worn long but generally well groomed, while in the field he keeps it cinched with a silk ribbon. His face is aristocratic and angular, a study in breeding and poise. He is tall but not overly so, and carries himself with the bearing of a man who has known privilige and responsibility his whole life. Extra: I am not entirely sure of the setting, I will read over what has been posted thus far. I forgot to mention his armor, which is a light mail sort. Also, since I was very general with Hashel's belongings, assume everything he owns is of a non magical nature as of the beginning of the story. His main blade is a single edged, curved sword of exceptional craftmanship. If you need anything else, let me know. Last edited by Funka Genocide; 08-29-2007 at 08:28 AM. |

Shouldn't Asidhara get some temp Connection points?
Also Funka, setting is human city where Ogres and Orcs are about to attack so they are drafting/organizing to kill them in 2 days (When they attack). Most PCs are part of a suicide group that is being sent first (Since most PCs aren't human). From what I skimmed, your best bet to mix yourself in is to meet with Asidhara and be part of her plan. Edit - And being a half-elf leading mercenaries, the General would probably have no problem using them for a suicide mission. Though you'd probably lose some points in Connections.

I just skimmed through all that's been posted (and might I add it's shaping up to be a lovely intrigue!) and I think perhaps I might be able to lend my troups to the "sucide" unit, though I don't intend on sacrificing them (as I'm sure Asidhara doesn't either.)
If it's ok, I can have Hashel wander on stage and begin communications in whatever fashion immediately presents itself. (Are you doing Co-GM IHMN?) |
