So, what your saying is, that people just create these threads to get Fifthfiend to say something funny?

Anyway, it also helps to remember that most people didn't start reading the comic on day one. Myself included, we came in some time after and tore through the archives in no time. After doing that, getting a single comic every couple days can feel so much more sluggish and one can feel like the plot is progressing slower than it did before, when in fact it's going the same speed it always has.

Perspective is a funny thing.
I've been reading this comic since (give or take) number twenty-six.

Coincidentally, I've fucking hated this comic since (give or take) somewhere right around comic number twenty-six.

...I mean honestly yeah, a lot of the recent comics have felt filler-ey and yeah I kinda wish Brian would knock it off and get to something better. But I do think people underestimate the extent to which that's been a bug and/or feature of the comic since the very get-go. I mean hey guys, extended nonsensical election humor prominently featuring BM?

The worst thing you can say is Clevinger's not doing anything he hasn't done before so I dunno, maybe he needs to quit coasting and just fucking kick the tires and light the fires and hack the Gibson and transform and roll this motherfucker back to the future of 1987 baby, yeah! But at the same time like, it's not like you didn't show up for the last 1,066 episodes, right? So you're probably gonna be around for the last hundred or so, too.

...Thinking about it, these things tend to crop up during the comic's talky-gabby phases and less so during its doin'-crazy-shit-with-magic phases so I dunno, maybe people just wanna see Sarda show up and BLOW THEIR MINDS AWAY!!! or see someone get chucked into a vat of toxic Mountain Dew or some of that kind of a thing.

I think this comic is awesome, Ive read it from the beginning but I agree that it seems to be in a slow patch.

Here is the breakdown:

#983 4/24/2008 - Sarda sends the Light Warriors to the Temple of Fiends to get a "reward"

#1017 7-15-2008 - Black Mage FINALLY betrays the Light Wariors

#1028 8-23-2008 - Red Mage is impregnated by/becomes a monster

#1067 12-5-2008 - None of these plot threads has gone anywhere. They are still in the Temple of Fiends, RM is still a monster, and the teams still haven't been sorted out.

I not one of those people awaiting the end of the comic, I wouldn't mind if it went on for years. I just dont want to feel like I'm watching Dragon Ball Z where it takes 100 episodes for something to happen (take that Dragon Ball). I was excited when BM finally killed some people... and then they all came back to life.

I mean who didn't see the vampire not dying? That joke was done the first time they attempted to kill him.

If you don't like it, don't read it, and certainly shut up about it.

Hey now. Nothing wrong with criticizing things. If anyone should have a right to be offended by criticism, it's Brian. All we others just read the comic.

I hear it's common to feel the comic has gone downhill from around the time one starts reading it. Something about the rush of initial infatuation that the comic never lives up to again once you know it too well. Kind of like any relationship, once the honeymoon is over, you have to put in work to get anything out of it.

I think it's very easy work to be entertained by the comic. It constantly makes me laugh just by the act of me giving a damn about it. Sometimes I read off the archives out loud with my little brother and that's a lot more work, but also incredibly hilarious.

Don't know how you people do it, but if you're not having a good time I'm going to bet you're doing it wrong. :P

It's not even that I think the comic is boring or that I don't enjoy it, I just wish something would happen. Or that one of the aforementioned loose ends would be tied up (or any of the loose ends we've long since forgotten about). It just seems like Thief has been less thieving, Fighter hasn't been as annoying, Black Mage hasn't slaughtered any villages, and Red Mage... well I don't know quite what to make of that. I don't know it just feels like... I'm going through withdrawal.
