That doesn't surprise me. Often times through any bureaucracy or administration folks in a higher position of authority come up with these ideas that they feel are somehow better for the organization or institution and lay them down as law without honestly understanding the implications, impacts, or effectiveness.

My department is no exception. ***snip*** I had a rather long post here about an office/collaborative space issue to illustrate my point, but it's not rather similar to the topics in this thread and likely far too much of a tangent. In any case, get support and rally people in groups, including students, parents, and any faculty you can. With any luck and a little persistence, someone will hear you and perhaps re-evaluate their stance more rationally.

I think after a certain interval this only edits the title of the post itself, not for the actual thread (for users, mods can edit the thread title indefinitely).
