As for the power absorb, I wonder if that's the same as the data absorb bit from season 3. Where if a digimon absorbs the remnants of it's prey it grows stronger. Though this season could be them trying to "reinvent" digimon like they did with 5 (which was one of the best IMO). They may still be competing with pokemon.

But weren't the ones it absorbed still alive? I mean, if that's the case, there's no actual reason it can't absorb their digimon other than cuz they say so.

Shiki continues to be a pretty awesome show. It's a horror/vampire show that is actually a horror/vampire show, instead of pretentious, flowery imagery under the guise of horror... or Twilight.
