READ Soul Eater. The manga is actually even better. Seriously.
Fairy Tail, well the manga is the most generic action I have EVER read. Seriously. On the other hand Erza, Gazille and the cats are pretty cool. But it really is "the power of friendship" all day every day. Can't really add much I read more manga mostly. My knowledge of anime is pretty limited to the most widely available stuff and comedies. I imagine you've probably already seen Ghost in the Shell SAC1 and Samurai Champloo? Samurai Champloo just got a blu ray release that is fucking poetry in motion so if you haven't seen that for a while or never seen it, enjoyed it and own a blu ray player, it might be worth tracking that down. Also with sandwiches when you say no pickles do you just mean like pickles as in pickles the long green things, or do you means pickles as in any pickled foodstuff? Cause green tomato pickle is the fucking shit with almost anything based around large chunks of meat. And sauerkraut + beef/corned beef and mustard on toasted white is a favourite of mine.

I'm seconding Desert Punk.
Since the suggestions have been pretty much everywhere... Macross Frontier, which I'd say is along the same lines as TTGL, though with a love triangle and singing instead of hot blooded power, but it's good. Eureka Seven's another good mecha series, although some of it felt unnecessary. Read/watch The World God Only Knows. It's about an otaku fanatical about dating sim games that has to date actual girls. I watched it, but the anime hasn't gotten a new season announced and it's like, nowhere near the manga. To Aru Majutsu no Index ( A Certain Magical Index ) has some great characters and your stereotypical shonen protagonist, who every girl loves but is completely unable to decide on any of them. His speeches may get a bit annoying, but your mileage may vary. Also, watch Paprika. It's an anime movie about dreams. |

Get yourself a meatball marinara sub on italian herbs and cheese and load that thing up with mozzarella.
If you liked Baccano, you'll probably enjoy Durarara, another show done in the same style with a different set of characters and different setting, but including a guest appearance from Isaac and Miria. |

How about Gungrave if you ignore the first episode? It's not ABOUT people fighting, but there are people who beg to be shot and people with guns.
Just don't watch the first episode, it's all spoilery as it's actually an episode from later on in the story (where it gets repeated, yes). Guess they wanted something with a little wham, since the story starts slow. But you can denfinitely see this wasn't written as an introduction to the show. And doesn't work as one. Do not watch the first episode of Gungrave. Do not watch the first episode of Gungrave. Do not watch the first episode of Gungrave. Do not ... I like to recommend Gungrave not because it's ridiculously fantastic. It's good but motherfuckers ignore it every time I recommend it. Assholes.

They haven't yet. The third movie, Quickening, doesn't hit theaters until next year, and then I think they're finishing it all up with a fourth movie. The second movie still had some horrible things happening to characters, but the faster pacing keeps it from dwelling on it too much. If something bad happens, you don't have to sit through an entire episode and a six minute still frame about Shinji coming to terms with it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
But that reminds me that if you want animes AND stuff that involves bread, there's yakitake!! ja-pan! which is an anime about breadcrafting. It's stupid, but it has both of what you want so yeah. |
