This is one instance where I support the prosecution of thoughtcrime. It's not the fact that he said, or almost said a bad word, but the fact that we can prove he thinks about people in these terms at all which should disqualify him from work in public office. There's just no going back after a slip like that, it's no different from slipping on the ground and falling and biting your tongue off. Face it, Mr Sanatorum, it's time to resign gracefully.

Also, wow, I didn't think people could actually seriously stand on a podium and make the "He's saying America has problems, therefore he's wrong" argument and not get a faceful of tomatoes.

I'm actually willing to believe the botched "Negotiator" version of the story if only because I can't bring myself to believe a politician would seriously plan on using "nigger" in a speech. Like, even at the hight of segregation politicians usually said "Negro" or "Colored" or something like that.

Stop pretending the current Republican party has any molecule of merit left.

Also, many people find "colored" and "Negro"* just as offensive.

The Spanish wouldn't find the word Negro offensive, since that's the color black in Spanish. MOVING ON.

Anyhow, I think the fact that he stuttered stopped, and just completely changed direction and tone was damning. It wasn't a stutter, it was an, "Oh shit change the subject quick."

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways. On the off chance that someone is taking a trip down memory lane looking through those old threads, I wanted to devote my signature to say directly to you, I'm sorry.
