That's a huge slippery slope argument if I ever saw one.

Asking people to stop saying awful things because they're awful is not the same as forcefully removing the ability to say awful things.

Edit: Like, can I just ask that we be very, very careful with throwing around the word "censorship"? Because censorship is generally a terrible thing, on that we're agreed; but if you start thinking anytime someone asks you not to say something it's censorship, then it starts to look like you're just reserving an escape route to use whenever you start to suspect you might be acting awfully.

What about attacking polar/grizzly hybrid super bears with nothing but your fists and wits? Bears have no social power, and said activity falls pretty firmly under "edgy," probably even "eXtreme."

So they can but they shouldn't, but they have the right to, but they shouldn't and so on and so forth and etc...

So this is a pointless circular argument, cause, you complaining about Comedians pushing the envelope with their acts (some succeeding, some not) amounts to nothing since they have 100% full rights to do so and not be censored for it.

That's not at all how the argument goes, Bells. It only goes in circles if you make the ludicrous assumption that having the right to do something under the law makes it morally a fine thing to do.

In other words: They can say it but they shouldn't because it's awful and it hurts people.

But they can.

And you support their right to say it, even if you don't support what's being said, cause you wouldn't support censoring them.

So... what's your point? This is a real question because I'm not even sure what you're arguing anymore. Yes, I support comedians' legal right to say awful things. And yes, I think they should still not say awful things. These things are established, so where are you going with them?

Sure.
And they, in turn, respect my First Amendment right to call them assholes for spewing rancid shit out of their mouths.

First Amendment rights go both ways. As I see it, no one here is saying that comedians don't possess the legal right to make their offensive jokes.
...We're just saying that their offensive jokes at the expense of oppressed minorities just might make them ignorant, entitled, privileged selfish jackasses, and those are the kinds of people we as a society should not support or endorse.

No. I brought it up because it's that kind of extremism (not necessarily always a bad one) that seems perfectly suited to this mild-mannered topic of edgy comedy, and since it's NPF we can all get the analogy if I namedrop Liz instead of adding another paragraph of text. I really have nothing more to say on the matter. If for some reason you vehemently disagree with my stance - which granted I haven't fully explained but I don't yet see the need to - then that's super duper.

I mean I'm a white male. You can't even hurt my feelings.
