The Weyland/Yutani Corporation is what you speak of. The Company funding the expedition to the temple in the movie... Weyland Industries(or Incorporated). The guy you speak of was named Something Bishop Weyland. Who had invested heavily in robotics. So there is the connection. Just wanted it to make some sense for you.

And what they were trying to get across with the "Aztec/Cambodian/Egyptian" temple theory was that the Yajuta(Predators) were the ones who influenced the culture on our planet in its early years. The temples were built by the Yajuta so they could perform their rites of passage and so the people had some place to worship them as gods.
