I think the idea of no rep or post count is good.
I usually spen my time at Bungie's forums and the only way to tell who are the respected ones are those who have been there the longest. That means no one is more powerful than those guys.

Derrrrrrrrrrrrrp.

But as stated, we don't give a damn about seniority. If we are talking in terms of respect, then it is earned by actions, not length of membership. Anyways I will be honest with you guys -- nothing will change. Post counts and rep are staying. But flaming anonymously in rep is going.
And thank you for the person who PMed a mod to apologise. That has been noted.

Another advantage to reputation is, as has been said, it's replaced post count. If we give rep for intelligent and/or useful posts (my first rep boost comes from BMG! for giving a suggestion on a thread asking for them), that will encourage intelligent and/or useful posts. If we focus on post count, we get stuff like the second, third, and fourth post on this page.
Psh, "shiney." I don't have to look at post count or join date to know that guy's a total newbie. He doesn't even capitalize it! And he triple-posted!

That was just his evil clone trying to destroy his credibility.
Anyway, while reading this, I started to think: Couldn't there be like some kind of rep count limit to how much a poster can get over a certain amount of time?

You are not reading this.

There is. You can't give the same person rep in a certain amount of time, and you can eventually run out of people to give rep to in a certain amount of time. Ask anyone who's been on a rep rampage before.

Cheers!

If you go on a long enough rep rampage (typically a 2-3 day bender) you can rep someone again. Now this says nothing to the quality of their posts, it just means you can give them more rep. If they completely opened the system up immagine how spammy rep would become then.

There's a limit to the max rep that one can get, which is 600.
Or do you mean per day/week/month/whatever?

My opinion is that rep is a huge Popularity contest, which I don't like, but oh well, I guess I'll just ignore it like everyone else that dosen't like the idea of rep, because Shiney said, it ain't leaving.
And before I finish, I have to confess something. About two months ago, I sorta joint the rep wagon for a few days and I gave someone a negarep for no aparent reason. I would like to apologize for it, and I would like to fix it, but I have notta clue on who I negarepped. So, I would just like to say... sorry, who-ever you are.
