I honestly don't care about Jack Thompson anymore. He's essentially the hobo on the street corner ranting about alien mind control rays with a suit.

Naw, that's pretty much impossible, RT. Something like that size of a meteor would never go straight through without breaking the planet up into pieces. Depending on how it hit, it would either blow an entire face off the world or destroy it completely.

Edit: Okay, to ACTUALLY answer the question ( >.<; ), a direct hit is very possible and it's only by sheer dumb luck that it doesn't happen more often. If you trace the paths of planet-busting objects that cross our orbit, we could get destroyed every day from now until infinity.
