Making it happen.

I'm thinking that the four original trolls (KK, TZ, Tav, Kan) are going to make it out okay, plus maybe Sollux (just a hunch, though he's still supposed to go blind at some point). Other than that though, yeah. All fair game.

Man I for reals just generally hope there isn't some huge arbitrary DC/Marvel/Joss Whedon-style character die-off for dramatic impact which conveniently excludes a particular circle of major and/or author favorite characters.
Like man killing the catgirl would just be so lolwash. EDIT: I mean I guess she could end up having a really ballin' death scene where she achieves some critical victory for the heroes and basically saves the universe or something, that might not be too bad, but somehow the prospect of catgirl dying just makes me think GIANT BALLISTA BOLT OUTTA NOWHEREZ.

I'm still wondering when we're gonna get that moment where Sollux gets blinded and becomes some sort of seer without being a Seer? It's easy to forget about that conversation so I got my eye on you, Hussmaster.

She's the Aeris.

She's been characterized exactly enough to do that, but not enough to be important to the story, or even to any major characters, beyond the potential impact of her death.

That said, Hussie penchant for doing everything in the most grand spectacular (literally in the sense that they are grand spectacles) leaves hope that deaths suffered by any characters (save enemy NPCs) will at least not be without meaning.
So at the very least a cut above loldeadAnya, I guess.

Now that you mention it.
Don't Wanna Miss A Thing = Armageddon. Armageddon = Liv Tyler and Bruce Willis. Armageddon also = a sacrifice by a father figure for the sake of Liv Tyler and the man who is with Liv Tyler. What I'm saying is that if it turns out John is with the bunny and Dad sacrifices himself and has a Bro-death... That would kind of suck. That would just kind of really suck. Not just because of the fact that it's Dad dying, but mostly because it would make sense thematically in terms of John becoming a man, and because it has precedence, so it just makes it seem even more probable. So it'd be difficult to call foul on it, because it's precisely the kind of thing that could and would happen in this kind of story, even though personally one'd kind of want the guy to stay alive and reunite with his son at least.

...I think what really tweaks me about that kind of death is it's often justified as showing that "anyone can die", but that it always happens to the disposable side character and not actually to any main character or author's pet basically shows that it's just following an even more complex and strictly enforced set of rules, which for me just makes it even harder to suspend disbelief than if they just went ahead and like, not had anybody die. Like in the X-Men, how you'll have whichever character die to prove that it's a Serious Story that is Tragic and Real, but I always just end up sitting there going huh funny how that somehow never includes Wolverine. Or like maybe it includes Batman or Superman Buffy or Angel but THOSE deaths are always the tragically heroic sacrifice kind AND THEN they just get up five minutes later and go NO SEE IM FINE. ANYWAY I have no way of knowing whether that will even be the case re: Homestuck so it's actually fairly unrelated griping I guess. Or hypothetically I suppose pre-emptive praise if Homestuck doesn't do that.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this, but in case any one didn't know Andrew Hussie will be at this thing on the 29th.
