Okay, here's one I've been tossing around for a while... and then forgetting... and then remembering in a retarded way and also someone else doing all the work for me.
Dumbeldore versus Hari Seldon in an, "Oh man, I totally expected that" contest.

Well let's see.
Hari Seldon orchestrated the reconstruction of an entire galactic empire, but took one thousand years to do it. On the other hand, apparently the other option was taking thirty thousand years, so I guess it's pretty impressive. Dumbledore, on the other hand, appears to have screwed up a lot more and operated on a much smaller scale. I'll have to put my bet on Dumbledore though. Mainly because he's a wizard and thus able to zap Seldon and alter everyone's memories so he won instead, even if he didn't. You'd never know! And since psychohistory only works well on a large scale, Seldon'd never see it coming. I think that would make him lose the "Oh man, I totally expected that." contest anyway.

Now that I remember who Hari Seldon is, my vote goes with him. He predicted it so much better.

Y'see, it's not so clear cut.
The Bebop crew usually beats their bounties into submission, and the bounties are usually up for a straight-up fight to see if they get away. Sometimes they run, but they run very conventionally. Lupin's much craftier than their usual prey. That's not to say the Bebop crew isn't up for it, but it does pose more of a challenge then most of their usual baggage. The way I see it, it comes down to a member-vs-member fight, where they all pair up. We'd probably have Jigen and Jett in a shootout, Spike and Goemon in closer quarters combat, with Spike pulling out of range now and then to get some shots off, Fujiko and Faye having a catfight chock full of fanservice... *sigh, inevitable.* and Lupin and Ed squaring off in some kind of battle of wits, where each try to stay one step ahead of the other. In this case, I have to hand it to the Lupin crew. I have my doubts about each, but Jigen and Goemon are both very well renowned in their respective duties. I do think Jett and Spike have a chance, moreso in Jett's case, but I don't think it will be enough. Goemon can cut bullets out of the air, for crying out loud! Spike would need to bust out some CRAZY reflexes to save his ass from that sword. I think the best bet for Bebop in this case is Ed laying some kind of trap for Lupin, or if Faye manages to subdue Fujiko, she might have a chance at totally taking Lupin apart since he's totally at a disadvantage when he's fighting dames.

If it's life or death, Bebop wins.
The episode where Jett has to take on the ship of inmates is all the reason I need for him taking out Jigen without any real trouble, and as good as Goemon is, he doesn't have the reflexes of the guy in Asteroid Blues, using Red Eye. Spike still beat the living tar outta that guy. He also managed to fight the super assassin to a stand still for quite awhile. I'm confident he can survive Goemon for quite some time. Now, Spike may not be able to beat Goemon straight off, but he'd be able to fight him defensively for quite some time. Jigen and Jett, merely by the virtue of their respective weapons, would be over relatively quickly, however. This leaves Goemon busy fighting Spike in melee while Jett now has his hands, and, more importantly, gun, free to blast him. Fujiko never fights anyone ever, really. Faye, however, in the first episode she's introduced, is already taking on gang members with a submachine gun. She wins hands down in a matter of seconds, leaving Fujiko with a bullet in her. And Ed is far far far smarter than Lupin. The ONLY wild card is Goemon, and I highly doubt he could take on the entire Bebop after the five minutes it would take for everyone else to go down. On the other hand--if it's for a bounty? Lupin gets away scot-free, and Spike complains about Bellpeppers and Beef without the beef, because they are the unluckiest motherfuckers ever.
