Indeed, either that, or you're just holding it wrong, like... holding it from the top? I know holding it sideways doesn't make you anything more than inaccurate, because I've done it before for fun at a shooting range (with two pistols actually), and my hands felt fine.

Meh. Still there's the question of accuracy. I mean, to my knowledge, a lot of guns still have some sort of manual sight on them and I'm sure not having a more stable base doesn't help control the kick much or keep your muzzle steady.
